I don't think there's any reason to worry about next season. With Hayne's money we can pick up a half dozen of these 'amazing athletes' that didn't make the NFL cut and they can come over and dominate our simple little game.

On a serious note, I don't see why Hayne would have been on the cap for 800k. I'd think it more likely to be closer to 600k, but it's all just a guess.

And does anyone know if contracts that have been registered but aren't yet active - ie those of the 2015 noobs - can be redone with more front-loading?

He will be ready for pre season.

Had another minor surgery a few weeks back and is on time for when the club returns to training.

The training facilities at Belmore got flooded in by the rain last week so they may have to take their training elsewhere until the repair work is finished.

They have been impressed with him so far which is great to hear.

This is excellent news.
I am looking forward to when Loko runs (sic) out onto the field in the Blue and White and half the merkins on this site then have yet another opportunity to bag the club they supposedly support.

I've put a market on it:

Jake The Snake $1.01

That is all.

I too was happy that the Bulldogs training facilities are stuffed

That's ok. The hordes of wrist slashing morons will need all the space outside it.

Pou you need to get a real good reality check

Since when has this club outside of the superleage war and Brian Smith, ever been able to recruit well when we have been traveling ordinary???

We will be a bottom team again next year, and every manager & player, fan(but you apparently) knows that. So good luck getting the mythical unicorn great players to our club from outside our system.

We are just not up to it as a professional organization. That is for the likes of Easts, Canterbury, Penrith and the like.

We on the other hand will be paying way overs for solid quality players, that will eat up our cap and not really put us in a much better position.

And for people that think Foran would be a great buy for us, I say he would cost roughly a million to get him here, and without a game breaker like Hayne in support, would offer much less then Hayne on similar coin, so again a step backward not forward.

Whereas if Hayne was still here and the lure of playing with the worlds best, you may have got Foran here on Hopa type coin($850) pissed off Hopa and brought in our young winger/centres from the lower grade that are showing great promise.

But instead all I can see is your misplaced glee at losing Hayne turning into egg on face embarrassment at how wrong your theories were.

But hold on, dumb arses are to stupid to feel embarrassed. My bad.

But we're not desperate, TheRam. We could sign nobody else and still make the eight next year. Our problem last year was lack of leadership, not lack of talent.

With Robinson replacing Hayne we have less talent but we've also lost an extremely poisonous influence. Now some legit hard merkins can take ownership of the playing group. It's very exciting.

Also, just a thought, I think that in a sport that does not test for player enhancing drugs, that if Hayne were to come back to league, as long as he hasn't sustained any major injuries, may come back a much stronger and even faster player then before. Just saying. ;-)

I don't think it's so great.
I hope he comes back and is terrible.

Great in the sense that the kid is finally growing up.

Good to see he is making the best of this opportunity.

He has a big future in the game and is it's with our rivals but he could of thrown in the towel after sustaining so many injuries, he is sticking it out and giving it a fair crack.

800k isn't all that much for a star player.
Seems like a fair value IMHO...

Not just a bad influence? Not just a poisonous influence? But an extremely poisonous influence? Did he not provide any inspiration to his team-mates at all? A fair few quotes over the years suggest he might have.
