i find it very amusing that when hayne was here for years when there was talk about should dugan or hayne be NSW fullback, sooooo many people on this forum thought dugan was a pile of shit - now many think he's our solution - lol

Who?

Pretty sure the Sharks re-signed him for another couple of years already.
They won't be letting him go.....then again I didn't think they were dumb enough to let Lichaa go either.

He did this year. But had we known in February hayne was leaving we could have made him an offer.

You can never have enough depth players, who needs stars????

You can have too many of everything, including stars. A truly competitive 30+ man squad has a good mix of backups (Nelson, McPherson), depth players (Fa'aoso, Robinson), genuine first graders (Watmough, Takairangi) and stars (Hopoate, Sandow, Peats).

Some squads even have the odd superstar (Hayne, Thurston) but they usually cost more than they're worth.

who what?

who thought he was shit? .... go dig up any number of threads for SOO or when he was at the raiders

who thinks he's a good solution now? .... read this thread

He should never have been in the equation when talking Origin fullbacks. Behind Hayne, behind B Stewart (etc). He'd be behind Moylan now as well.

Probably still one of the first centers picked though? I wouldn't mind him there (or at fullback for club level).

Serious off field issues though....

Maybe I am missing something really obvious, but why is Watmough a genuine first grader and not a star?
The guy is a current SoO rep and has been for years, is a multiple grand finalist and has a far better CV than any forward we have had on our books since I dont know when.

Yeh, he does (has had), but his off field stuff has been quite different to that of the blokes he's been lumped in with in people's minds. He hasn't assaulted women (or anyone AFAIK), I don't think he has a history of driving while off his brain etc. He certainly comes with some risk attached, I'll grant you that.

old, injury prone, manly player

His age has no bearing on whether he is a star or not.
He is less injury prone than Jarryd Hayne.
In the next 2 weeks or so he recieves a Parramatta Eels training kit so no longer a Manly player.

So give me some serious reasons why he isn't a star.

Watmough is past it..
This year he only averaged 30 tackles a game and 121mtrs.

Thaiday average 85 mtrs and 31 tackles
SBW 124 mtr 22 tackles
Hoffman 109 mtrs 23 tackles
Mannering- 92 mtr - 29 tackles.

Our best is Mau 105 mtrs and 26 tackles.....Missed a few thou.If you think Watmough is a bad signing you have rocks in head

The categories are obviously arbitrary. I think Watmough used to be a star and who knows, he might turn up next year and I'll find out he still is a star.

I think he will be a good signing. We're paying overs but we're bringing him in for his leadership more than for his playing ability.

Pou, you should change Peats and Watmough - Peats is a 'genuine first grader' and Watmough a 'star'.

I would dispute that Sandow is a star, but can't be bothered having an argument for the next 12 weeks about it...

You think he doesn't urinate in his mouth?
