Lots of merkins on here are freaking out because we lose Hayne, then don't want a very good replacemnt in Dugan because he drinks Breezers on the roof and engages in dumb talk on Twitter. Yet I bet none of you would complain if Inglis the woman basher played for us.

Weird standards.

No i don't want Dugan because i think he is over-rated and Hoppa would do a better job

I think there is a direct link between the No. of tatts on a player and their dickheadness.

completely agree.

the money dugan would want could be better spent in other areas of need. if anyone thinks dugan can provide what we will be lacking sans hayne they are kidding. dugan plays a similar fullback style to hopoate, there's no sense in the club splurging on dugan. i also think most of the attention dugan gets is because of daley's boner for him.

i think if hopoate is playing fullback for us and gets a good injury free run most people's jaws will be dropping at how well he plays much like in his rookie year for manly.

I don't think it is that cut and dried on the Dugan v Hoppa front. For all his personal faults, Dugan is a proven FG fullback. Hoppa is presently a centre who looks like he'd do well at FB. But....how many games has he played in the position. Just saying.....

I would have thought it is far more likely to be cut and dried the other way.

Dugan has performed at elite level at fullback, including very strong performances at Origin level.

His tackle breaking ability is in the truly elite level.

I think potentially Hoppa may have a ball playing aspect to his game which is probably the only thing missing from Dugan's game.

But given that Hoppa seemed to be down on pace and physicality last year, struggled to beat his man, finished the season busted and way down on form, and has played f**k all fullback at FG level, I wouldn't be turning my nose up at Dugan.

Having that bloke who can start a kick return by busting a tackle and putting the defence on the back front would help the forwards out massively.

And having Hoppa in the centres would be a luxury.

Obviously the price would have to be right, and he has had massive attitude issues in the past, but IMO his attitude seems to have massively improved.

Id definitely be speaking to him.

Dugan is a better centre because of his tackle breaking ability imo. Hoppa's silky hands will be wasted at fullback and I imagine with some weight training in the States along with his sprint training he's been doing with Roger Fabri, Hoppa could find himself on the back of some Junior Paul offloads. If Dugan does want to come to us, I'd be telling him nothing over $400k and that he would be playing centre.

The modern day fullback needs to have some ball playing ability. This is the biggest area of Dugans game that lets him down.
He cost the blues the series last year because of this.

That's certainly a fair point. I guess the importance of those skills will vary with a team's game plan / tactics. I don't think Dugan is hopeless in that regard, but is clearly more limited than some.
