Watmough plus 23 Eels means we might be one short on settling on a "top 25"? Unless they're still counting Hayne in that number, and just had to rule the line somewhere, otherwise every merkin at the club (Allgood, Lasalo etc) would have wanted in on the US junket/training trip.

Manu Ma'u and Danny Wicks wouldn't be able to travel to the US with their criminal records.

So here's a notional list:

Allgood
Champion
Crooks
De Gois
Edwards
Faraimo
Fa'aoso
Goodall
Gower
Hopoate
Hunt
Lussick
Mannah
Matterson
Ma'u
McPherson
Moeroa
Morgan
Mossop
Nelson
Norman
Pauli
Paulo
Peats
Pritchard
Radradra
Robinson
Sandow
Takairangi
Terepo
Toutai
Watmough
Wicks

That's 33, and doesn't count unannounced re-signings from the NYC team or Wenty squad (e.g. Alvaro).

So if you remove Wicks and Ma'u on criminal grounds, plus Peats, Mossop, Faraimo and Allgood, who have all had recent surgery you are left with 27. So maybe some more merkins have been rissoled since the end of the season.

Or maybe the reported 24 is just wrong.

I don't agree with that at all. I think Canterbury had very good go forward and dangerous forwards and yet their ability to score tries from within the opposition twenty was severely hampered by the lack of a dangerous centre and fullback. We scored pretty well until Tonga was unavailable. Peats will make a big difference of course (his defence is rightly praised, but he's a quality attacking hooker as well), but if Hoppoate goes to fullback, we're going to need two quality attacking centres to be able to compete. Centres who can either score tries themselves or set up their wingers. Champion might fill the bill on one side, but I think we need another one at least. That's why I'd rather leave Hoppa in the centres and concern myself with filling the fullback spot if I was the coach.

Ahh... they mage the GF. I think ill take that over having the best fullback in the world (Parra) and not making the finals or best half (Cows) and not making the GF every day of the week.

If it is common knowledge that Watmough is going to Seattle, why have we seen nothing from the club?

I don't really care if he signs or not but I will not get excited until i get my members email announcement.

From the article posted on previous page

Manly has released Watmough but has not officially lodged the papers with NRL management.

Once that is done, Watmough can formally sign with Parramatta.

How can you make the GF every day of the week when there's only one Grand Final?
