Wiki reckons our "squad" is

Wiki obviously isn't satisfied as to the authenticity of this fluff piece from Goodall's management stating he signed for two years (i.e. 2014-15), or this post from Lavaka's Instagram stating he is coming back to training at Parra in a "few more days".

Wiki also includes Kelly, who was off contract and hasn't been announced as re-signed.

f**king amateurs. I think my work here is proof that being free doesn't mean you have to provide a shoddy service.

I'm talking about his on field influence, how many bonehead lazy plays have we seen from this bloke??? How many times has he refused to cover up on the inside and allowed a break that lead to a try??? How often does he like to do the tough hit ups on his own 20m line???

Honestly what advice could he offer off field??? Pamphlets for Hillsong??? Signing this bloke offers no upside whatsoever, with Hayne gone we can't even use the excuse to keep our best player happy.

He's crap on the field.

That's why I pointed out (previously) that Watmough plays the same position. Seffa hasn't been signed to play first grade.

However, given that Seffa was crap, and that even you and I could see that, then one might assume the coaches could see it. And therefore we might also assume getting a replacement who offers more than Seffa, who is content to play reserves, might also be difficult.

So why not sign the 'nice guy' who can offer sound life advice to guys like Pauli Pauli?
Seems (to me) like you're scratching pretty hard to find something to whinge about! Seriously - who gives a crap who the lock is for Wenty? Who played there this year?

No more than anyone else. In fact less than most other middle defenders. You just notice them more because you hate him. Fui was far worse and you merkins never criticised him. Kenny Edwards missed some howlers too.

How often does he like to do the tough hit ups on his own 20m line???
How much do Sandow and Norman make tough hit ups coming out of our end? It's not Paulo's job. We have wingers and props to make heavy carries. Paulo's job is to create space for the halves.

Is it possible the coaching staff know better than you? Brad Arthur's seems to have a strong appreciation for good clubmen, and I'm sure Paulo is a good influence. I'm also sure that after waiting so long to be re-signed, Paulo has come pretty cheap.

An NRL club consists of more than just the top 17. Joe Paulo might not even be top 25 any more.

What do you think they are paying him??? you think he took a massive pay cut to stay here?? Especially when he apparently had other offers from clubs??? Anything more then a pie and coke deal for this bloke is overs and i have no doubt he is on good money.

Who offered him big $$?

Canberra?

What if his extracurricular involvement in things requires him being in Sydney?

He's crap on the field.

He's not rep class but he has proven he is up to NRL standard, has a bit of experience, and is very durable. He also has some passing skill and offers a bit of utility value.

I wouldn't have him in the top 17 but he is likely to star at Wenty. If he has to play first grade we know he will make his tackles and he won't shit himself. He is also the only player to have appeared in every game Brad Arthur has coached in first grade, so I concede there may be some Stockholm Syndrome.

That's why I pointed out (previously) that Watmough plays the same position. Seffa hasn't been signed to play first grade.

Playing the same position as Watmough doesn't mean they couldn't be on the field at the same time - Arthur has gone with one 'prop' and two 'locks' plenty of times.

However, given that Seffa was crap, and that even you and I could see that, then one might assume the coaches could see it. And therefore we might also assume getting a replacement who offers more than Seffa, who is content to play reserves, might also be difficult.

Agreed. Paulo was given the opportunity to test the market, obviously didn't get a lot of interest, and has re-signed with us for market value. It's nothing to cheer about but it's nothing to f**ken whinge about either. The staff have obviously decided that his positive influence at the club outweighs the opportunity his presence would deny to a youngster in the NSW Cup team.

Given it's taken him right up until a few days before pre-season training starts for most clubs I'd say Sef would be on no more than $200k a season. Not bad for 100+ NRL games experience, can play in the halves or in the middle plus it allows us to play Matto as the dominant half in Wenty if we don't re-sign Kelly.

You know you can just log into Wikipedia and change the list don't you. It is public domain.

I reckon he would be on less than that - $150k tops, maybe even minimum salary.

There would be blokes in the top 17 on less than $200k - probably props and wingers though.

That's why I said no more than $200k. I reckon he'd be on $150k or thereabouts.

Ah, just saw this. Ideally (IMO) you would want your top backups at centre, half and hooker to be on no more than $150k - less if they are inexperienced. I reckon Morgan and De Gois are both probably on about $200k (De Gois probably would have been on a lot less last year, and hopefully next year) which is more than is ideal for a backup. Paulo might be in the roster as our backup half, though I hope not. His kicking game isn't up to NRL standard. He could be on minimum salary or even less. The two year contract is interesting. We might've offered only one year and he's taken two years with a discount.

Or he might be on $700k over two years and be Mannah's co-captain.

Maybe the should just rub some Vaseline between sephs legs so he can run more? Or put blinkers on so he runs straight not sideways.
