Mossop’s sole NRL season was bookended by long spells on the sidelines with shoulder problems.

 bookended? .... his NRL time on field was like a single page in a war and peace size novel

Apparently the big stand out at week one training with the squad left home has been Wicks, really dominating the wrestle and fitness drills

I don't know if any of you guys have seen this article, but I am very, very impressed with the people that the NRL/Knights have assembled to form their board of directors.

Boy I am jealous and so wish that the NRL could do something like this for us. How useless do our bunch look next to these guys?

Newcastle Knights Board announced

The NRL on Saturday unveiled the new Newcastle Knights Board, comprising some of the most prominent business and sporting leaders and community representatives from the Hunter.

CEO Dave Smith said the new Board had the expertise and enthusiasm to help secure the club’s future.

The new Board is:

• Brian McGuigan AM – Director Australian Vintage Limited

• Eileen Doyle – Director Newcastle Ports, Bradken, GPT and Boral, Chairman Hunter Valley Research Foundation

• Mark Fitzgibbon – CEO of NIB Health Funds.

• Katie Brassil – General Manager of External Affairs at Centennial Coal

• Philip Gardner – CEO of the Wests Group

• John Quayle – Chairman of Venues NSW who is a former CEO of the Australian Rugby League

• Peter Shear – NRL advisor and former Lloyds Banking Group executive

Mr Smith said the new Board demonstrated the calibre of people interested in being part of Rugby League in the Hunter region.

"We could not have hoped for a stronger Board," he said.

"It has expertise in all the right areas, including business, sport, sponsorship and Rugby League.

"And, even more importantly, this is a Board with strong links to the local community.

"So it is a Board which has one goal – to ensure the Newcastle Knights have a strong, secure and successful future."

Wow 5 of those 7 Newcastle Board members are from local industry.
Guess there is an advantage in having a one town team.

Are any of them sponsors of the Knights? The Chief is the face of NIB. I wonder if there might be a potential conflict of interest there somewhere?

I'd much a club be governed by experienced directors with publicly disclosed interests (and a commitment to absent themselves from votes where a conflict exists), than run by a bunch of hacks with secret private interests.

why do people upload these things to youtube - surely they know the shit will hit the fan

I saw it on Reddit and it seems it was posted to a Facebook page and then someone saved it and uploaded it to YouTube.

It has been removed from Facebook.
