the club should hang on to that cash so when hayne's nfl gap year ends early and he wants to come back mid year the club has cash to spend and we don't get a repeat of the Folau incident.

The NRL will give us special dispensation if it happens.....

Don't believe media speculation about our salary cap. If they make out we have plenty to spend they can keep selling rumour and speculation about us trying to poach other clubs' players.

how the f**k would a Fox Sports journo know the full details of all our salaries ?

more to the point, how would they know what the Special One was on ?

Cos journos are good at getting info by keeping people in the know happy with Katy Perry or Rolling Stones tix, Harvey Norman or Coles vouchers etc. Info flows easy that way.

How do I know ? People talk about people talking. :D

Nolan brought in some good young guys and some talent.Im not sure who was already part of the system thou.Id assume guys like Jnr pauolo and Pauli Pauli would of come thru our jnr system regaurdless.
He did get some plooder like Ryan and Harrison too. But Manu Mau-Semi-Edwards where good finds.
If you signed 2 plodders and 1 turned out a first grader thats decent going IMO.
Im guessing Cleal record wasnt that great.I recall fitgerald saying people dont see all the ones he brings in that turn out mud and the club wastes $$ on them.Easier to try and just bring in your local jnrs

Cleal spent years signing Parra juniors for Manly. Now that the stream has dried up at the Dogs he's been terrible. The only reason that the Dogs HM team did well was because they had 4 of Parra's props, now those boys wanted back into Parra. The SG Ball team, NYC, and NSW cup teams this year for the Dogs were very poor performers.

Yes but apparently he was being ignored in our system and the Dogs recruiter at the time could not believe his luck when he saw him and offered him a deal to play in the Dogs system and the rest as they say is history.

I wonder if it's the same recruiter that was slow off the mark with Isaac Luke? ... Happens all over the place.

They had soon-to-be premiership winning starting halves Sherwin and Anasta, and the Cowboys came in with a big offer for the inexperienced Queenslander. He played in a grand final the very next year and hasn't appeared in one since. Meanwhile the Dogs have gone on to lose two grand finals.

This is the problem with league-If you have the top player its hard to build a team to win the comp.
I still think if its a junior product or they been at club for more than 5 yrs (in first grade) greater cap compensation must be given.
I want Hayne back but at 1.2 its a bitter pill.Especialy if hoppa does a great job.

Part of the problem is that the cap serves 2 purposes. 1) to constrain total expenditure and 2) to distribute player talent.

So, things like LTP discounts make sense on account, but not on the other.
