I agree 100%

My point is we don't know how much Pauli or anyone else off contract is asking. But the club does. If they let him go it's stupid to criticise without knowing all the facts, and we'll never know all the facts. So shut your shit mouths.

Than we should of resigned him earlier on -Surely our club knows that he has potential and once they promote him too first grade other clubs will take notice which will drive his price up.
Or is that the plan-That way another club pays overs for someone BA knows isn't that good??

As much as I want to win a GF id like too do it with some of our JNRs, not a bought team like souths.

Taumalolo is more explosive then Pauli, I think Pauli needs to be on the edges to get more one on one with little guys and use his offload. Taumalolo is an absolute beast while Pauli is quiet soft still, I would say Kelepi would be a better comparison to Taumalolo
Well Kelepi is another junior we happily let another club take of our hands, why bother investing in junior's if we are only going to let other clubs use us as their one stop shop????

But don't worry we have plenty of depth

There were still plenty of local juniors in Souths' grand final team, and personally I'd just rather win a comp. As soon as a player pulls on a Parra jersey I'm a fan.

As for getting rid of quality players, in recent years Souths have let go of Josh Mansour, James Roberts, Chris Sandow, Dave Taylor and Nathan Peats. It didn't stop them winning a premiership. In fact the extra cap space helped them retain the players they did need. And that's not saying the players they let go were duds either. They just didn't fit the balance of the squad.

Maybe Pauli doesn't fit our balance. Maybe he does.

Tanginoa was depth. Didn't you see him spend most of the year playing against teenagers?

What when he wasn't injured??? I suppose Pauli must have forgotten to give up his chair as well. Don't worry at Parra we will have guys like Nelson and McPherson who know how to give up their chairs. Bending the line not so good though.........

not really ken sio was consistent at least with yardage and helping out from kick returns, this is a real weakness for robinson.

I don't know about that. It seems everyone thinks a winger these days needs to be able to make meters via barging it up like a prop forward out wide. And, sure, that's useful. But it is just as useful to have lightning speed and be able to every so often beat your man and make a sixty meter run down field. I agree with Avenger. I reckon Reece Robinson could have a superb year with us. I'm very excited about his signing.

 You serious???? Oh dear. The guy is quick but is a massive cat, average under the high ball and couldn't tackle a salad sandwich. And he hates contact. If he plays much first grade we will be struggling big time.

Pauli is unique in that he can defend in the middle and attack on the edge or even wider.

He runs like a back and has a good side step and offload. I would persevere with him, at only 21 he is still learning and the bigger blokes tend to mature a bit later.

I reckon He is more a middle player where his defence wont be as bad. Also you mentioned 3 edge forwards, you do realise manu and edwards are 27 and 26 next year and pauli only 21?

Pauli is the type of player we need in the middle, a big body with plenty of skill. Plenty on here talk about how we need a big prop with skill and we should go and buy one. Yet we have one and we are willing to give up on him before he even turns 21!! Look at all the other top middle players and check how they were going at 20?

I think I said there are a number of quality juniors behind Manu, Kenny and Tepai. Josh Aloai has already been mentioned by Stagger I think that he is killing it and will be in grade sooner rather than later then there is Tyrell Fuimoano. Two time Australian Schoolboy NSW 18s NYC this year. So with the 3 mentioned then 2 quality players to come I would think we wouldn't value Pauli as high as other clubs short on the edge.

In terms a middle player I don't see it. Yes he is a big body but he doesn't play as a middle player. He isn't the high volume traditional lock with ball playing skills. No one would I think consider Pauli a big minutes or high volume player. He also isn't the tuck it under you arm run hard and bend the line prop. Pauli likes to step sideways first use an offload or step, he certainly isn't a Jnr Paulo metre eater.

I think the comparison with Tony Williams was a fair one. A big body with skill, he floats in and out of games probably had 1 and a half good seasons in his entire first grade career as he doesn't really fit the mould anywhere on the field but you can't leave a big human with skill on the bench. Most dogs fans spend more time frustrated at TW.

In regards Kenny and Manu both probably will be able to play later into their careers due to their later starts and less demands on their body.

Again I'm not saying don't re-sign him, I'm saying that we may get priced out of re-signing him and we have greater needs in the halves and outside backs to overspend in a position where we are well stocked both now and in the future.

We definitely will. Lussick+Allgood+Mossop+Terepo+Champion+Morgan+Takairangi+Sandow, means we should be able to afford Foran, Merrin, Hopoate re-signing, and we should be able to upgrade and retain some of the juniors.

There's room for Sally Fitzgibbon over with me in the Cronin Stand.
