Im not sure if they knew or not, if they did you would of thought we would of looked at a centre earlier on in the piece rather than really getting lucky with takarangai not being wanted at tigers.Otherwise we would have morgan and an injury prone Champion.

Again, they DID NOT KNOW, and had limited cap space that they were saving for Watmough, it was all about options ( and they had centres as Hoppa would not have moved position).

Folau wold be great to ave in the side, but not at the price he will surely command.
We need to use this cap space wisely if we want to improve in the coming years. We need to learn from our mistakes of seasons past.

I guess it depends on what sort of cap discount Dave Smith would be willing to give in order to entice him back. And of course could be complete arsecandy. I'm also doubtful that it could be him, as he is not smaller than Watmough (he's got 5 kgs on him) :)

So, potentially not having 2 players who haven't played at all for at least 2 years makes it a crisis, we are good at negatives :)

Not negative at all - we have lost two props and potentially their replacements may not get clearance. Not a crisis - but a concern.

I say no to Izzy. His defence would be exposed in the NRL. I'm tipping Hayne to return by June 30. He would cost at most $200k for the rest of the season. We then go on and win the comp like Saints did with Gasnier's return in 2010. Massive gut feel.

Pretty sure they closed that loophole Venge after the Gasnier BS.

If we get foran-than Izzy would be better than Hoppa. The holes he would get put into.
Hoppa can pass a nice ball thou and is smarter from what ive seen.Cant deny falou is the superior athlete.I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up like Inglis.

If that's the case with Hayne do the club really want him back? I reckon that BA would rather move on altogether.

There is no loophole to close. Hayne can rejoin before June 30 and play the rest of season 2015.
But we will have to pay him more then 200k for half a season, but as Barry said depends what Smith and the NRL are willing to throw in.

i think the relaxation from smith that we're after is to allow our 3rd party sponsors for jarryd coming back to not count towards the cap if we had already maxed out our allowable club 3rd party $.

surely we'd have no issues russling up 300k via a tin can if needed for jarryd

difference between Falau and Foran is that the NRL will chip in for Falau, however I think its more likely to be Foran

Given the "war chest", and 3rd party deals. We might only be paying $500k to Folau on the cap which would be awesome. That's certainly worth it.

3rd party sponsors don't count towards the cap in the first place. That's why the Roosters, Bulldogs, and Broncos can field teams like they do. Because a lot of their player's salaries are made up of 3rd party deals.

If Hayne were to return for next year he could probably get $400k in 3rd party deals no problem.

Would Falonk really be a better option at fullback then Hoppa???

Yes. He is head, shoulders and full torso above any other Wallabies candidate for starters. He is a very good player. Not that Hoppa isn't, but I think he's more of a centre and a fill-in fullback. Time will tell on that.

Folau is no longer a winger. He will play FB or Centre should he ever come back to league. Of course I'd obviously prefer Foran, but would also love to have Izzy.

I really doubt Izzy has the ball playing abilities to play fullback in RL, something i think Hoppa does have in his game.
