These are the movies nominated for best picture. I've not seen any of them so am unable to comment. I did notice that Jolie's movie missed out on a nomination....which would piss her off.

Best Picture
“American Sniper”
“Birdman”
“Boyhood”
“The Grand Budapest Hotel”
“The Imitation Game”
“Selma”
“The Theory of Everything”
“Whiplash”

To me, the big shock is that "The Lego Movie" missed out on best animated feature film. Here are the nominations

“Big Hero 6”
“The Boxtrolls”
“How to Train Your Dragon 2”
“Song of the Sea”
“The Tale of the Princess Kaguya”

I've only seen one of those movies above...but I thought "The Lego Movie" was brilliant and deadset surprised by the snub.

Still stunned that The Lego Movie missed out to shit like The Box Trolls. The mind boggles.

If this was not a huge enough miscarriage of justice, this is the same group that judged "Forrest Gump" to be a better movie than "The Shawshank Redemption", "Pulp Fiction" and "Quiz Show"....with "Four Weddings and a Funeral" also nominated. To me, Gump finishes no higher than 4th place that year.

Ellen Burstyn (Requiem for a Dream) losing to Julia Roberts in Erin Brokovich was also daylight robbery.

Of the movies I've seen so far from last years crop I would rate Whiplash the best.
Thought both Nightcrawler and Interstellar may have nabbed nominations, but I do understand that Interstellar was pretty divisive.

Boyhood was good, but I can't believe it is the favourite to win. It's really the way it was made and the story behind it giving it all the momentum, as opposed to it actually being the best movie. I haven't seen Birdman yet, but I'm sure it's going to be better.
Imitation Game was definitely better.
And I'm not getting all the love for Grand Budapest Hotel. I liked it a lot, but it doesn't deserve moms for best picture and director.

The Lego Movie missing out over How to Train Your Dragon 2 is a travesty of epic proportions.

Yeah, Keaton really deserved it.
I was happy with Birdman winning. It really was the best film of the year in my view.
This was the first time I had actually gotten to see all the Best Picture nominees before the ceremony (plus a few that missed out like Gone Girl, Nightcrawler, Foxcatcher and Interstellar). Gonna try and do it again next year.

Haven't seen The Theory of Everything, but Keaton was crazy good in Birdman.

I think Interstellar got the biggest snub of all, Lego Movie was a lot of fun but I didn't find it as great as everyone said it was.

I'm glad GOTG got no love, found that really overrated too.

Pretty good year for movies in general though
