I hope you're right.
Watching it live I thought it was horrible. Said '3 weeks' before the ref blew his whistle :( In this day and age of 'dangerous throws' you simply cannot afford to fling people around like that

Agree. Live: I said two-three weeks. Slowed it down on replay at home. Looked a lot worse at the ground. 9/10 blokes make that exact same tackle and nothing happens. Ballin got stuck awkwardly. Even still, I'd be happy with three weeks. That's reasonably fair. 7 weeks is farcical.

So do you get suspended on the tackle or where player ends up?
In this case if ballins head doesnt get in an akward place i reckon he get nothing!

Ridiculous grading for the base charge....as was his similar offence last year (i think it was against the Raiders...almost identical tackle).

What a joke. Grading should've been at worst a grade 1. But then you've got the carry over crap which is an absolute joke. So you're still getting suspended for previous acts even though you've served the time

Yeh, possibly, but when the tackler creates a situation where a slight movement of the tackled player head mean his head hitting the ground before his body, there's a fair case for saying that's a dangerous tackle (regardless of intent...it is negligent). Just the grading here seems silly.

History repeating itself:

Round 22 last year - Reynolds trips someone, pretty much gets off scott free (only suspended because of 3 incidents in one game), Junior charged excessively for a good solid tackle.

Round 1 this year - Reynolds trips someone, gets off scott free (only charged because of a dangerous tackle). Junior charged excessively for a good strong tackle.

There is still a big difference in terms of the potential consequences of a tripping tackle and one in which the player lands on his head....as much as we might not like tripping.

True, but there is a chance that someone lands on their head every time they fly high for a bomb, or launches themselves into the defensive line. Some times things just go wrong.
Also big consequences for a crusher tackle, but Josh Jackson got off after performing one of those as well.

Certainly expected he'd get charged, it was clearly non intentional and not a traditional 'throw' so I tjoufht Grade 1, with loading probably 2-3 weeks, but grade 3?? Wtf? Didn't Tony Williams only get grade 3 last year when he picked a guy up off the ground and pile drived him into the turf?

The club MUST contest grading. I'm sure there is enough footage of prior offence gradings to get him down at least a grade 2

The grading should have nothing to do with prior offences. Those are covered by the prior offences loading.

Paulo's throw was a bit unlucky, but Ballin landed very badly. He could have suffered some damage. I agree though that grade three is probably too much.

The intent wasn't there though, surely that comes into the grading
