Leeds Rhinos are rumoured to be chasing a big name NRL player for SL in 2016, any rumours as to who the player is?

Apparently the roosters are trying to sign Sam Tagataese before the pre 30 June deadline. Now taking into consideration their current forward pack and bench, how can they manage this? I mean, their treatment of the so called salary cap is an absolute disgrace, they don't even pretend to care about it, and the NRL just do nothing. It stinks of the Storm all over again.

Who will they actually lose this year? Sheck and maybe Tupou who were both on their old contracts worth $150k each max? What a farce the game has become....Politis and his mate Gyngell run the NRL.

You answered your own question. They lost them because they can't pay them past their initial deals. I don't like them but that's a smart team there who knows how to manage their cap.

Losing RTS wasn't smart though. I would have sooner lost SKD and Toops. RTS could have been extended last year for about $400K but the club wasn't convinced he was going to succeed at fullback and wanted to wait this season to see how he went. He is elite standard and would have been one of the games top 5 players next season.

Is SBW, Minichiello, FPN, Sheck and possibly Tupou in the space of a year not enough talent?

Outside of Manly I think you'd be hard pressed to find a club who has lost more in the last 12 months.

But god forbid we sign a fringe first grader in Tagataese.

Players leaving next year are more than 12 months apart from players who left last year.

Not that I disagree with the Tagatese thing. He would be cheap and unlikely to play first grade at full strength.

The only player from that list on decent coin would have been SBW, that aside it would appear the Roosters are starting it would seem to get bitten by the salary cap this year with RTS leaving, Tupou probably leaving, but lets be honest with regards to Tupou he is being replaced by Burgess who is probably an upgrade and it's not like the Roosters aren't being active in the open market making big money plays for Johnston and Taumalolo, looking at Carney ( who wouldn't come that cheap ). So I guess when you look at who they have lost, signed, upgraded and tried to sign, they are certainly pushing the friendship when it comes to the cap and borderline bloody obviously not playing by the rules.

Taumalolo and Carney? Lol you guys will believe anything you read.

SBW would have been on between 700-800k. Mini a decent amount and crucially he also freed up long service allowance. We also lost FPN who was on around 300-350k.

And now we've lost RTS and will be unable to re-sign Tupou. But yes, we haven't lost anyone!

And because we've signed Joe Burgess and were looking to sign Sam Tagatese for mega bucks we're suddenly over the cap again. Hilarious.

The key to good cap management is simple. Don't sign mugs like Sandow for 550k. And don't sign wingers to large contracts. We do neither. We used to in the post-Fittler era and that was a disaster.

We learned.
