No its Mary is crap and can't coach, they have no attack and the fullback and centres are no one's and they need named backups.

Ive been critical of Pearce in the past, but I think hes a better player now than previously..

Sux that we need to be considering him again, but it depends on A.Reynolds fitness, hes the bloke I wanted in there years ago.. he might not be the man, but hes the most qualified in terms of talent and composure..

Ofcourse if A.Reynolds plays a blinder and beats Saints.. thats gonna suck.. but a positive for NSW ;-)

Bummer, but the boys played really well and had to defend countless sets. Some dodgy calls, but proud of the boys...
Dugan was everywhere...kept us in the game.

What Flame said. We gota get this attack firing though. Was embarrassing to watch them run around like u7's in the 20. Apart from that, I thought we were right in it. Can't be unhappy with an effort like that, playing against 15...

Souths were on tonight too...after losing 3 straight. They are such a different side with Reynolds and Keary is turning into a great player. Their backline plays put ours to shame.

Our halves went missing when we needed them and Rein had one of his poor games unfortunately.

Still we were right in it up till the end, but eventually our lack of attack would bite us.

Wonderful game of footy, even though we lost. When the defending premiers complete at over 90% (95% up until the last few minutes ) you'd expect them to win and win big but full credit to our boys for making them work hard for their 2 points. Great first half from us, can't wait til we play a team with weaker defence than our last three opponents.
Massive games from the Duges, Mata'utia, Nightie, Aitken and Frizell and all the boys. Thought LeStrange could have had a bit longer on field.

I think we're not far off seeing a backline like this -

1. Duges
2. Nabuli
3. Mata'utia
4. Aitken
5. Nightie.

or at least you'd hope so. Farrell, while his defence has been adequate, offers little in attack and is giving away penalties and dropping balls more than anyone else in the team. The 5 above would give us more strike power with the added dimension of Nabuli's speed and the option of bombing for him with his height and agility.

I hate Monday night footy though, gotta say.

Look at the stats and dragons had 6 of top 7 metres gained.

Souths best metre earner was P.Enalty...

On a serious note but, I thought the drags went pretty well against the nrl favourites. No way they were going to lose 4 in a row.

Reynolds makes a huge difference but. Kicks brilliantly.

He certainly does (Reynolds), his kicking game was excellent. No way they were going to lose 4 in a row?? Cechin & co made it seem that way...didn't Keary knock that on or what? Big call, bit of a turning point...they're making stuff up.

Top effort! How were our hold downs that got penalised any longer than a lot of the Souths one's that didn't get penalised. How about Dugan's chip through in the South 20 where he clearly kicked the ball away before two South players still tackled him was not a penalty.

Great defence, almost a couple of other try's by us in the 1st half, not our night for 50/50 calls but could not fault the effort. Souths really rose to the occasion.

Dugan M o M, no bad players tonite.

Is what I meant. Nrl wouldn't allow another souths loss.

I saw it differently. Our backline were not put to shame. It was a very competitive match.

The turning point to Souths came thanks to a series of ref decisions on our goal line.

Our halves were very much involved. What did Rein do wrong this time? He didn't shine but I don't think he cost us the match.

No argument there.

The question mark over our attack was often found on the last tackle options. The build up prior to that was usually pretty good.

Our biggest issue, imo, is getting a better than even share of possession. Not talking about %, I'm talking about the amount of tackling we seem to do. I don't pretend to know the answers but improving the completion rates is a start. Fact is, we have been winning games while defending. Tonight, however, we had a similar situation and lost by a converted try.

Thought saints were easily the better side , widdop cost you a possible 14 points in the first 25 mins , without them points all your hard work in the first half with 55% possession was never going to be enough.

The question is why can't widdop and marshall organise the team better inside the 20 apart from a couple of good things the usual options are poor at best.

It would be fascinating to see his stats since joining saints, Widdops kicking game is really low % stuff.. he does plenty of other stuff which is great, but its been an ongoing thing with him, often gets overlooked due to his running game, support play etc.

the game was close but there were a few turning points that turned the game in Souths favour

1. Rein throws a forward pass when we're hammering Souths on their line
2. Widdop throws a shocking pass that Pete Mata....knocks on after we've been defending on our line for so long
3. Refs some how think Keary catches the ball in goal and gives them a 20 metre restart.

It's these small things that can turn a game. Unfortunately they all went against us

i told you guys WE CANNOT ATTACK. our attack near the line is bordering on pathetic no beating of the opposition players except for one occasion AND YET AGAIN WE HAVE NOT SCORED MORE THAN 10 POINTS.
