Have a read. Seems a very level headed kid. Also in just an off season and 12 rounds he has young players already talking about staying loyal and repaying him.

It is understood Gold Coast?s offer was more lucrative

so that's it, that's your proof?

regardless how much he may have sacrificed, the fact is the interest from a viable alternative has jacked up more than the broncos would have been prepared to pay without competition

I think it is obvious there will be interest in the majority of Brisbane juniors, they are of higher quality than the ones at say, Parramatta.

well a catchment area of 2mill vs 650k would hope so

what's changed now though is the previous titans strategy of not competing directly with brisbane has moved on like it's past failed administration

Yeah because Bennett a person who is well know for never paying big money for established rep front rowers or young inexperienced players is going to pay extra for a young inexperienced front rower.... seems legit... not. There is no way we even get close to what the Titans were willing to pay along with a front row spot. I doubt very much that we payed more than we wanted to or that the titans interest effected our offer at all.

myth

back to petero, they did pay big money for props, petero just chose to take less at penrith out of principle + webcke was on big coin without counting talbot's paper bags

The Titans strategy may well be to compete directly with Brisbane, but given the fact they have no history, prestige, or any real drawcards in the form of players or coaches, they will need to pay overs in order to have a chance of landing these players. As long as Brisbane have Bennett, the vast majority of players are gonna take unders to play under him.

I don't think Brisbane would be too upset losing a fringe player like Molo or a tweener like Copley if it means they keep who they really want. Let's not forget Brisbane are romping the u20's at present and have plenty of capable reinforcements who can step up and take their place.

For sure there will be, and to be honest in the Henjak/Griffin eras I would have been very very worried, sure we can't keep them all but we have some exceptional talent coming through and with Bennett in charge and slready making an impact at all levels our chances of retaining the best and most is significantly higher. We'll keep who we want mostly with only those chasing big money or with to many in front of them leaving.

or at least force the market price up for those they miss, which is more than the bozos have had to deal with before

So what was Webcke on... your turn sunshine...prove it... prove he was on big money.

Broncos are back and it obviously grates on you. Our next premiership is really going to annoy the f**k out of you, brace yourself it's coming very very soon. The louder the sand grates in your vag the closer we know it will be.

That's assuming Brisbane and Bennett get into a bidding war with players, which is unlikely given they've already shown in the past they're willing to put a non-negotiable offer on the table.

Some young players will definitely take the money and run and absolutely good on them if they do, their careers are short and so on, but a lot will consider what they can achieve under a better coach and side - with a view to their next contract being a bumper one.

Plus the third party money on offer to Broncos players out side the cap far exceeds anything the Titans could offer. Hell if Joe performs as expected he would probably pull in more money through third party deals than most front rowers get paid from their clubs in the future.

For all the whinging about Des being Des... Bennett isn't much different. Both utterly ruthless in getting what they want.

I wouldn't want a coach any other way.

you want me to link you something from nearly a decade ago? yeah like that was ever going to happen. there is a reason petero took unders instead of going to the cowboys the first time round.

and what's that diddums? pointing out some solid facts about the titans today has got you that worked up has it? plenty more to come

According to you it was all over the media... put up or shut. You want others to show proof but when called to do the same you have nothing. Again put up or shut up hypocrite.

the money that petero knocked back was the difference money from 350k he believed he was owed for not turning down "webcke money".

350k for webcke at the time was big money for a prop, and rightfully puts your myth to bed

Where does it say what Webcke earned? Petero was offered 350k buy the Cowboys, doesn't say a word about what Webcke was earning...try again. Your claim was about Webcke being on big bucks...again prove it, this does not.

straight out of petero's book, if you dont' have it buy it, i ain't gonna scan it for you
Wayne gave it to me straight. He informed me that the Broncos could not match the money that the Cowboys were offering me. Not now anyway. But in a couple of years when Tallis and Webcke retired, I could, as Broncos forward leader and rep player, expect to receive the top money they were earning. I put my faith and trust in Wayne and took his words as a promise that that if i retained my form and become leader of the Broncos pack when Shane and Gordon retired, I would be paid what they were".

but again you needed to be educated about this despite claiming to be a "diehard" broncos supporter  do yourself a favour and research your own team

Still proving nothing, just making claims, don't see anything showing what money Webcke was on, try again. Doesn't attach a value at all, just says he was offered less..... next. You claimed Webcke was on big money, haven't seen anything showing that. Feel free to actually find something that says Webcke is on "insert amount here" to back up your claim. Plus even if Webcke was on around 300k, that's still cheap for the best front rower in the game at the time and a player that could have earned 150k a year more elsewhere easily.

Plus Petero signed for $375k a year, so that would mean his idea of a pay day was getting more than your unproven 350k for Webcke.

Good luck finding an actual value for Webcke that he signed for, he managed himself and didn't have a manager to leak this information to big note themselves. There may be something out there, but highly unlikely.
