Unless we release Seffa.

I'm hoping the days of our club paying the salaries of players at other clubs is now well and truly over. Happy to let Seffa walk if some other club wants him bad enough to pay his full freight, otherwise, he can still make a half decent backup in Wenty in times of dire need I guess....

THis makes no sense to me
I thought the whole idea of 3rd party agreements not counting under the cap meant that they could not be affiliated with the club nor could they be sourced by the club
How then is it the clubs responsibility to ensure they are paid and do not fall through?

Yep

Actually no.

Clubs can organise third party payments that count against the salary cap. They are allowed to guarantee these.

There is also a $600 000 marquee player allowance that is paid by club sponsors (essentially 3rd party payments) that are guaranteed by the clubs and do not count against the cap

In the election thread it was suggested that some 3rd party agreements have not been honoured because a certain former chairman lost power and they were withdrawn in a political move. If true, disgusting that they would do that "to the club they love".

Name and shame the companies who have not honoured 3rd parties.

Surely if they fall through the club would simply make the payments themselves - they would be no worse off under the cap

That's right. But the ones that the agent is obviously talking about are the 'nudge, nudge, wink, wink' ones that are supposed to be with parties not directly associated with the club (so can't be sponsors or affiliates etc), and for which the club cannot be a party to the negotiation, and the club can't guarantee.

Third party deals are a scam which give the clubs aligned with media organisations and favoured by the NRL a massive competitive advantage under the cap.

A handful of clubs supply most of the rep players.

It's obviously unfair.

Now the campaign is also growing to reduce the "unfairness" on those clubs with all the rep players over origin.

The roosters and Broncos coaches are on the panel proposing the rule change so no one should be concerned about that.

It does prove that this board is not up too it when the big end of town is cocerned.

Imagine having a guy like Bill Moss and his contacts??? Doubt it would happen with him involved.

How much 3rd party can you get through plumbing equipment and used cars????

Then they would be pay by the club, and there is no issue/financial loss for the player thus nothing for the agent to complain about. Can't see the club not paying allowances when we have guaranteed them!! f**k we pay players to play for other clubs!!

Methinks there is another certain unaffiliated person, who would have extremely good connections, who didn't get their way and has well and truly taken his ball and gone home
