Who says they aren't? What Dogs & Hoppa are doing only affects our decisions minorly. If both players area available, there's only one of them we are even going to consider forwarding an offer sheet

Yes and yes. $350k is what most teams would be expecting to pay that much for a 23 year old Kiwi international that can play fullback. He played fairly well in 2015 making heaps of metres. If he was able to work on one position instead of being shuffled everywhere in the backline he may be able to unleash his true potential.

Club's salary cap tangle




There is one NRL club facing huge salary cap issues.

They have bought up big in recent months and are now feeling the strain.

They have until January to sort out the mess.
I expect more players at the club to be shown the door in coming weeks, a move that won't please them given most other clubs are now right on their salary caps.

The one we can afford?

Don't assume we're just going to chase the best player in any given circumstance. The way we structure our cap might mean we have no room for a $500k (for example) outside back, but do have room for a $250k (for example) outside back. It's not as simple as filling every slot in your 17 with the best available player at every position.

We might have budgeted $1.5M (for example) for first choice halves, which could mean that Norman is priced out of our team beyond this year. There are good reasons why you might choose to sign the less competent player when two are available.

That was based on his junior form and NRL potential, the next one won't be.

Just like we have Semi on a rumoured 4 year $1 million contract.

Tafua is a strng runner of the ball but not great under the high ball.Id pass on him. Hiku would be decent for the right price. I would be sniffing around Lafai. If they sign Hoppa why would they want him?

Well they only recently re-signed Perrett so i doubt it's him, Morris boys doubt it and Rona was one of the finds of the year. Abbey is also been picked up with massive wraps from the Warriors and Lafai was rumoured to have a falling out with Des. Who knows but he seems to be the one to make way.

If a team is looking for depth, look no further than Joel Reddy. He can play any of those positions and is probably better in defence than any of our current roster is. He is also off contract. If a few spare dollars can be allocated there is nothing to lose and everything to gain.

How about spending half that on Reddy and getting better quality depth? One injury in the centers and we are f**ked for the year.

Walker re-signed in June of 2013 after only a month of playing first grade football. Do you think that Grand-Final winning, Australian representative, high profile centre Dylan Walker will be signing to Manly for only $250k? Not a chance in the world. Probably closer to the $550-650k mark and that's why they're having to shed so many players.

With the reduction of interchange there will be another hooker on the bench. Pritchard will get this spot. Also Alvaro should force his way onto the bench probably in place of Wicks.

It might not pan out that way. To replace tiring forwards with a hooker might be the very worst thing to do. We'll have to wait and see. Could be best to stack your bench with big Tom Burgess types.

Most forwards will have to play all their minutes in one stint, including the starters. That probably means teams will be able to stack fewer monsters in the 17. I agree we don't know how things will turn out but the fact we have four specialist hookers in our squad tells me the coaching staff are looking at carrying one on the bench.
