Yep, what a nothing story!!! Every single club would consider him if he returned.

Funny how all the articles about Hayne's possible return one day never ever suggest the eels as possible options ..............

Which is the part that is the most annoying. The Telegraph is the biggest blight on our game.

We did try KE at hooker and he was shocking. Really slow service from dummy half.

Yep, was aware of that.
Lets see what BA comes up with, game plan and all.
Just feel that 4 strong forwards on the bench, one a utility, is the way to go.
The reduced interchange rule coming in next season is going to be taxing on all the players, particularly forwards.

The alcoholic at large strikes again

He is a pathetic excuse for a human, and his journalism skills make him look like a model human being. Hopefully it won't be long until he chokes on his own vomit.

Hope you are reading this beetroot cheeks.

Pretty that was because of cap issues, we couldn't use anyone else.
Agreed.

One experiment related to this issue was the promotion of Cody Nelson. What a terrific game he had in his one and only opportunity. Fingers crossed the cap issues that prevented Cody from playing additional NRL games have been sorted. He really deserved more opportunities.

Cody was fantastic but I think he will struggle to get a crack again this season.

Guys like Gower, K Edwards and Pauli all competing for bench spots especially if BA goes with two dummy halves.

Based on that one game, Nelson showed that he is a classy utility and if he can maintain and even improve on that standard, week in, week out, then he should be our utility on the bench. Awesome defender/work-horse. Strong off both shoulders. Not slow either and can pass well from either side. Very impressed.

Hiku is probably a slightly better than hoppa anyway.

Maybe not as dynamic as walker, but has more of an all round game and more versatile.

Would be a great signing.

Hiku gives us another fullback option alongside Gutherson and Gordon.

Gordon, Radradra, Taikarangi, Gutherson, Hiku, Norman, Foran is a backline right up there.

Salivating, salivating....................

OR Hiku might (if given the choice), want to sign for Parra instead of the Dogs.
Some (one?) around here seem to think only their opinion is valid, and present it as fa t, with a sweeping disregard to other potential factors.
Player salaries go way beyond simple market forces.

Are you saying that Poo Poo is that simple market force?

Because that wouldn't fit people's narrative of Hayne being the villain.

JARRYD Hayne for the Brisbane Broncos/Cronulla Sharks/insert team of choice? Surely it has to be the most outlandish rumour of the annual NRL silly season.

Yet that was the hot tip floating around on social media on Wednesday, as unlikely as it may seem.

Hayne is considering his options after his reality check in San Francisco, where after six NFL games the 49ers have demoted him to their practice squad.

The 27-year-old is not expected to be required again this season, leaving him pondering three alternatives: (a) trying to win a 49ers recall during the off-season, (b) linking with a new franchise or (c) returning to Australia to resume his rugby league career.

If his former Parramatta teammate Tim Mannah is any judge, Hayne will not abandon his American dream without a fight.

"I think he's a very driven bloke, he has a point to prove over there and I don't know that he is coming back any time soon," Mannah said last week.

Well-connected media types were offering contrasting viewpoints on Wednesday.

If indeed Hayne does feel inclined to return to the NRL, he would rate as one of the most coveted free agents in the code's history.

Just how many clubs could accommodate him at this late point in proceedings is another matter altogether.

It is hard to imagine the Eels, after their salary-cap dramas of last season, having the necessary funds to bring their prodigal son home.

Hayne has been repeatedly linked to the Roosters, but even after the departures of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and James Maloney they still boast an all-star roster. If they can squeeze Hayne in at Bondi Junction, fans of other clubs will be left shaking their heads.

Brisbane/Cronulla/insert team of choice, in contrast, have been biding their time and may be one of the few NRL clubs with disposable cash to embark on a belated spending spree.

Since the end of last season, the Broncos have parted company with Justin Hodges, Todd Lowrie, David Stagg, Ashley Taylor, Daniel Vidot, Mitchell Dodds and Jordan Drew.

Mitch Garbutt and Jayden Nikorima are expected to follow them out the back door.

In terms of incoming personnel, Brisbane have signed only a handful of players untested at first-grade level.

It would seem logical to assume the Broncos have a significant surplus and are waiting for the right moment to sign the right player.

Could that man be Hayne?

Would he really be interested in playing for the NRL's favourite Queensland franchise, and living away from Sydney? Would the Broncos be glamorous enough for such an out-and-out superstar?

Coach Wayne Bennett was keeping his cards close to his chest on Wednesday, saying he had "nothing to update regarding recruitment".

Circumspection would appear a wise policy after reports that South's Greg Inglis knocked back an offer to join Brisbane earlier this year.

If it is true that the Bronco's couldn't entice a player of Inglis' calibre on board, fans might be entitled to wonder how they could possibly sign Hayne.

Stranger things have happened, perhaps, but despite the speculation that surfaced on Wednesday, many will find it hard to believe the Hayne Plane will ever land in Brisbane.

Since the end of last season, the Sharks have parted company with Blake Ayshford, Michael Gordon, Jeff Robson, Anthony Tupou and Kyle Stanley.

Josh Addo-Carr and Tinirau Arona have also followed them out the back door.

In terms of incoming personnel, Cronulla have signed USA captain Joseph Paulo, former NSW halfback James Maloney, Trent Hodkinson, Kurt Capwell, Jordan Drew and a handful of players not fully tested at first-grade level.

It would seem logical to assume the Sharks have a significant surplus and are waiting for the right moment to sign the right player.

Could that man be Hayne?

Would he really be interested in playing for the NRL's most under-achieved club, and living in Sydney's Shire, away from his church and friends? Would the Sharks be glamorous enough for such an out-and-out superstar?

Coach Shane Flanagan was keeping his cards close to his chest on Wednesday, saying he had "nothing to update regarding recruitment".

Circumspection would appear a wise policy after reports that Tiger Robbie Farah knocked back an offer to join Cronulla last month.

If it is true that the Sharks couldn't entice a player of Farah's calibre on board, fans might be entitled to wonder how they could possibly sign Hayne.

Stranger things have happened, perhaps, but despite the speculation that surfaced on Wednesday, many will find it hard to believe the Hayne Plane will ever land in Cronulla.

MJC makes more sense than the Sloth.

Huge potential there, expect a call form Fairfax any day now.

I mean it is one of those things where if your club isn't making discrete enquiries - even just casually - into the status of one of the most gifted players of all time then they are probably doing it all wrong.

Lovely little situation for the media though as they can simply transplant the same story every half a week or so with a new club headlining the recycled content.

while I understand the media is just clutching at straws, I also don't think anyone should simply expect if Hayne returns he will just come back to us ... I have no doubt he/his manager will test his worth and if we can't measure up there'd be no hesitation going elsewhere
