Yep same with Burgess and SBW. Every single club will atleast look into them. It would be stupid not to even if it's a one in a million shot.I mean it is one of those things where if your club isn't making discrete enquiries - even just casually - into the status of one of the most gifted players of all time then they are probably doing it all wrong.
Lovely little situation for the media though as they can simply transplant the same story every half a week or so with a new club headlining the recycled content.
while I understand the media is just clutching at straws, I also don't think anyone should simply expect if Hayne returns he will just come back to us ... I have no doubt he/his manager will test his worth and if we can't measure up there'd be no hesitation going elsewhere
I've moved on from him. He'll be 28 in Feb and we can spend that kind of cash better elsewhere.
Offer him a reasonable amount but no bidding war thanks.
On the surface, sure you could think his age would go against him so maybe you are right.
Would you have taken Hodges, Lyon, Slater, or Brett Stewart 4 years ago when they were all aged 28 or over?
Hayne would solve our centre problem if French develops into the fullback we hope.
Agreed, why shackle the best player in the game in the centres??? As good as he could be at centre it would be a waste.Playing Hayne at centre at his price is a waste of cap space. It's fullback or 5/8th or nothing.

I don't simply expect he will come back to us, if he returns.
I think Jarryd himself may want to return to the Eels, however unfortunately there are influencers in his life that may override what his personal choice will be.
emjaycee.imagination.com understands that both his manager and his accountant have a dislike for the current Chairman and that dislike may well extend to actively working to ensure that Hayne ends up elsewhere should he return.
I won't go as far as Stagger and say he will be a Rooster, but IMO only 50:50 chance of him being an Eel. Depends on how much influence his mum, Tim Mannah and others have at the time.
The one we can afford?
Don't assume we're just going to chase the best player in any given circumstance. The way we structure our cap might mean we have no room for a $500k (for example) outside back, but do have room for a $250k (for example) outside back. It's not as simple as filling every slot in your 17 with the best available player at every position.
We might have budgeted $1.5M (for example) for first choice halves, which could mean that Norman is priced out of our team beyond this year. There are good reasons why you might choose to sign the less competent player when two are available.
If this is true then the chairman should go.
Booze continues on radio
Rothfield went a step further during an interview on radio station 3AW in Melbourne on Wednesday, saying he expected Hayne ? who was dropped to the practice squad after six games for the 49ers this season ? to come home.
?I?m hearing he will be back in the NRL next year,? Rothfield said. ?I?m hearing that he will come home for Christmas. He?s got no football until August, for trials with San Francisco. I can tell you that the biggest spending clubs in the NRL have their cheque books poised. They?ve spoken already to his manager, Wayne Bevis, and I?ve just got a feeling when he comes home for Christmas, that he will be staying in Sydney and playing NRL next year.?

I mean add to that the fact that he and the board torpedoed the best third party sponsorship scheme(as proposed by Bill Moss) I ever heard of, which by the way would have seen Kieran Foran and now Jarryd Hayne, if he returns, easily fit into our cap, but he has issues with the number one player manager in the game.
Please tell me it ain't so.
I don't care what people say, but other then Steve Sharp vetoing everyone and opting for coach Brad Arther, he and the rest of the board are useless.
If Hayne does come back to league and we don't sign him, I would put the blame squarely on the shoulders of our admin no matter what the press or the apologists say.
In fact if Hayne were a Roosters juniorlol:, I know, I know, ridiculously funny huh?) but lets just imagine in a crazy parallel universe somewhere this were the case, I dare say, someone like Politis, would have already convinced Hayne, like a father figure, to come home and made it so comfortable and easy for him to make that decision.
Instead we have an admin that gets major player managers off side and stays silent and at a distance from him and probably are praying that his loyalty will win the day. Yeah I know, the apologists will point out the "what do I know or don't know that the admin is doing" chestnut, but this is Parra we are talking about.
Besides as we all know there are very, very few secrets in league and we would have for sure heard some whispers somewhere down the line by now that we are actively making moves to bring our boy home if that was what indeed he wanted to do.
But no, nada, zilch, zero, nothing, from us. Time will tell, but if Hayne does re-sign with Parra, it will be due to his unwaivering loyalty to our club and very little to the boofheads who are in charge unfortunately.
