Yeah merkin so freakin what?

http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/stories/s794186.htm

NICK GRIMM: There is one recommendation which has arisen from the ICAC report. Assistant Commissioner John Slattery will ask the Director of Public Prosecutions to consider prosecuting one witness, a Dr Stephen Larkins, who had claimed during private hearings that the senior Macquarie Bank executive, Bill Moss, had offered to be an intermediary for corrupt payments.

It was a claim Bill Moss denied. The ICAC meanwhile found that Dr Larkins had powerful motives to fabricate evidence against the Macquarie Bank executive.

Anyone see the article with Watmough stating he had a poor attitude towards Parra last year?. Just wanted to get in, get out and go home. Outstanding leadership. Weren't people saying it's what Watmough brings off the field that counts?

Here is the article and nice of you to take one line and make it the headline.

It's great that he has a new attitude this year but you honestly think that attitude was acceptable last year? Surely it is worth discussing, particularly when so many on here were saying he was bought for his leadership.

Spot on especially when you consider the coin he is on and the obvious lies he was then telling to secure his Parra contract to the club, coach and fans.

Like I said before, as much as it may pain most of you apologists, over 90% of what I say will be proven true or correct in the long term. And here is another one.

Hopefully, for Parra's sake, with his new and improved body, free from nagging injuries, his motivation will naturally improve by default due to his better physical condition.

The salary cap isn't the problem, the TPAs are the problem, its just not an even playing field.

TPA's are absolutely impossible to police. Even if we didn't have a salary cap, some clubs would offer players extra money via wealthy patrons/businesses. It's never been a level playing field. It never will be. I reckon we should get rid of the salary cap altogether and just make it open-slather like it used to be.

What part don't you agree with ?

The bit about clubs like Broncs and Roosters not having a performance / results advantage over other sides

Broncs have missed the finals once since they came into the comp or something ridiculous

Each have attracted superstars while already fielding rosters chock full of rep players

Sure there have been leaner times but far less than clubs like us Canberra and Cronulla

I reckon we'd have less than half of that. Pre-season training has already started FFS. It would be criminal if we still had a lot of cap space remaining, considering there was no guarantee of any quality players coming available, and no guarantee of signing any of them.

I reckon for 2016 we probably have $200k-$300k free, and we're intending on using it to upgrade a few of blokes on minimum contract (or less) once we decide on our top 17 for next year. We could also use it to front load contract extensions.

There will be at least one, maybe two suitable outside backs become available to us in the coming weeks. We just have to wait for the dominos to fall into place. A wise move I reckon.

You're basically right, but I'm not sure whether open-slather would be so great. The existing system, at the very least, exposes salaries to a 'reasonableness check'......and probably helps ensure that fringe players earn enough to play as professionals. In an 'open market' situation it's not a normal market (there are only 16 employers, and there's no serious threat of entry to the market). Probably wouldn't be much worse though.

Am happy to discuss it - let's invite Choc along to the discussion so we can make sure he wasn't taken out of context and so we can get some real information and not what the media want us to hear only. Maybe BA can come too and can tell us what he thinks of Choc's leadership last season.

It can be more of a level playing field if the salary cap was a points system rather than monetary based, with every player being allocated certain amount of points depending on their calibre and a teams total amount of players all have to add up to a total amount of points.

With a points system it's irrelevant what you pay someone.

Lol.

He played shithouse and we all saw it.

He was quoted admitting it himself.

Why can't noise express an opinion which is pretty well supported by an available body of evidence without you wetting your pants and name dropping your mates in an hysterical defence?

Plus there is always player movement mid season. Having available cap space makes us bigger players in that game OR enables us to pay someone a signing bonus for a 2017 contract.

It would be maniacal to use cap space to upgrade a minimum contract... if they have agreed to terms, then don't flush the cash! Save it for developments.

If we have space... very believable that we would have around 4-500k if we are chasing both Lafai and Hiku.

And anybody that questioned his signing was a hater, whinger and not a true fan. Couldn't believe reading that article. And to think we have 3 more years of him. Outstanding :sarcasm:

The issue Noise raised isn't whether or not Watmough played shit on the field, but rather about his supposed leadership (or lack of) off the field. The only body of evidence to support the level of leadership he displayed and whether that was sufficient enough or not would be from the coaching staff and the playing staff and I haven't read anything that says he let them down in that regard... have you?

As for name dropping my mates, who did I name drop? Choc? That's the guys nickname and everyone knows it and BA? What do you call the coach? I don't know either of these any more than most fans do.

And if you seriously think I was hysterical, you need to chillax buddy.

Choc even admitted his attitude was not good enough, at least he is honest but we better not be critical because thats not allowed.........

3-4 games we win extra by having hiku or lafai rather then Morgan- LOL ....

Defense wise Morgan matches both IMO....

Attack wise your comparing him with two guys who are about 7/10 MAX . Id say 6.5 compared to morgan who id give a 5/10. Morgan also would leave them for dead with speed.

I can spot talent. Morgan isn't a star but there is only 2-3 small things he needs to fix to be a genuine first grader. Not a superstar but a genuine solid first grader. Exactly what Hiku and Lafai are.

Now James Roberts - That would be a better signing then both these guys. This kid can light it up!
