Fergie Fullback

Must say how impressed i was by Ferguson's performance at fullback this morning. Once he's gained more experience there he'll be one of the top fullbacks in the comp.

So how does the rest of the league unlimited universe feel about Fergie Fullback? Just a solid first grader? NSW fullback? Better than Slater? Wouldn't get a go at there at half the other clubs? Should still be in centres?

He looked all fingers at the back for mine.

Mitchell to fullback by round 10 for mine.

Seemed pretty rough. St Helens were pretty garbage in general and a better team could have probably positionally exploited him.

That said, I also think Fergo getting more involved will be good for the Roosters.

He played there for the raiders and whilst he flashed ability, it was mostly terrible
No one doubts him with ball in hand and that was the case at the raiders but organising a defensive line from the back and positionally he was absolutely terrible
That stuff isn't going to get exposed against St Helens the way it will against JT, Cronk, Smith etc

Those aren't insurmountable things to over come, with experience he could learn them and given that was nearly 3 years ago when he played a bit of fullback for the raiders maybe he's learnt them already

But I KNOW at his best he's the best centre in the world. So I wouldn't be moving him from that spot. Not when Mitchell is the talent he is as a fullback

Agreed. Fergo one on one is a mismatch for 90% of the centres in the NRL, to be honest as an opposition fan I'd probably rather see him chiming in to the back line and floating around rather than seeing him absolutely destroy his opposite centre one on one repeatly

Absolutely
I want him coming in as a fullback and running at Sia/Papa and allowing them to read his play and react, rather than them working out ways to isolate him one on one with Croker or BJ

Mitchell to fullback will happen sooner than later. Ferguson is basically warming the seat for him until he is NRL ready for it.

I was all for it but mitchell is ready and i see no negatives in having him in there straight away with fergo in the centres.

Man, i thought he was pretty ordinary tbh.

Maybe he was rusty or a bit nervous playing there but he didnt look comfortable at all

As an opposition fan I would feel much better with Ferguson at fullback than centre.

Mixed bag for the most part.

With the exception of blooding Mitchell what other fullback options do the Roosters have? Burgess?

Mitchell will be back by round 4.

It's all gone quiet & he'll be snuck back in.

Most other clubs will have had a (harsh) decision demanded within a week.

Not the Roosters!
