Olive signed a deal with the Titans on Monday for 2017 but then asked if he could have a early release to join the club and they gave it to him. The club is now looking at another option in the back line for our depth.

Sad to see Olive go. IMO he would of been a better option in the long run in the centre's but Madge has made his mind up yet again.

I would have liked to see Olive stay a bit longer but he obviously got a better offer from the GC and Souths did the right thing by him by letting him go.

Good decision by all parties. Olive wants to be centre but it looks like auva'a and Hunt could develop as the long-term options here so heading to the GC is probably the best option for him.

Titans were going to give Bryson nearly double what he gets at Souths.

Madge wouldn't release Bryson though as he knows we need him:)

We didn't need Olive.

We have Goolagong who'll be ready in 2017.

I ain't sad to see him go. Madge knows what he's doing.

We don't need another back. We have enough:

GI
AJ
Goodwin
Auva'a
Gray

Hunt
Oldfield
Nielsen (gulp)
Murphy
Turner (he can play in the backs too like McQueen did)

Thats very poor depth in the backs then.

This is not news, olive actually did a grevsmul and signed last year, for 2017,madge thought he could maybe change his mind but in the end after trialling him in the preseason games with no real show of brilliance let him go, he mayhave played rep footy but in his 1 game last year and couple this year showed nothing for madge to fight for him

Hunt and Oldfield can do a job quite well I reckon.

Turner can do a job in the backs too.

I see what you mean though Rsag.

All we can ask for is that they do their best.

Who said Turner could play in the backs? Its the first ive ever heard of that being a possibilty,we would have to be in absolute dire straits to resort to that, imo.

He's played there before, granted it was against a weakened Tigers side but he did pretty well, bagging a double.

Obviously I'd put all our other back options in front of him but he's a viable option should an injury crisis for the backs come upon us.

Also on the topic of Olive, eh i'm glad he's got an opportunity at the Titans. If we weren't gonna use him at centre then what's the point? Hope he develops well. Good kid.

Maybe he'll change from a green olive to a mature, ripe one at the GC then return home to us!?

Also Turner played at centre/wing against Warriors on Perth 2014.

Turner did a fine job there.

If we get an injury in the backs in a match in the season which is highly likely then I expect Madge to move Turner to centre.

I was hoping we'd re-sign Olive when it was announced that Titans hadn't actually signed him. Looks like it ended up happening anyway.
