We are finding it hard to attract players and this maybe due to various factors including the coaching staff and perceived lack of experience. Coote was a class above our halves and would be a good purchase if we could land him.I am sorry but Widdop and Marshall offer very little creativity in the current halves and it may be time for a stint with the Cutters.

all this Widdop bagging is a bit of a concern.
Cast your mind back to when Widdop joined the club and the first half of that season he was amazing. Single handedly won us many games. that was because he still had some of the "melbourne coaching" in his system.

fast forward 12 months and that has all gone out of his system, its purely "dragons coaching" now and look at the difference..

Coote looked like a superstar the other night.

Given the overall performance of the team, most decent players would have.

We need a half back not another full back or utility player. We have enough of them already.

No, in my opinion, he's about the same. Widdop's a good solid 5/8th and can play fullback. He's never been a superstar, just a good footballer. All players have a bad game from time to time. I remember him being hot and cold. I have to admit his 1cm grubbed kick that he almost misses annoy me ;-)

We only need 3 things. One new coach, one organising half back who will also play in the front line and a five eight who will compliment his halves partner. Widdop will not play in the front line, won't often run the ball and cannot organise a leaking tap to be turned off let alone a football team.

If you want to fix a leaking tap, get a Doust..........they make the best tap washers.

The big difference being in plumbing a Doust will stop the dribble, but in club land our Doust is full of dribble...!!!
Also Coote to Manly in 2017, another pie in the sky dream. Move on.....next rumour!!!

Mentioned on channel 7 tonight that we have failed to field a competitive extension offer to Rein.

Oh well, looks like Coote will be wearing the tri colours next year. They don't often miss their mark.

On Rein, Paul Kent said something interesting last night on NRL360 to the effect that he had overplayed his hand and it hadn't worked out. I wasn't sure what he meant at the time, but I guess it meant he was holding out for more, but it ain't gonna happen.

If Rein does leave I think we have enough stocks to cover. Havili goes ok he just needs more game time and he showed that playing for the Cutters last week. We also have Coster who apparently goes pretty well too.

Rein, honestly what is a competitive offer?he is at best an average player and in my opinion not within the top hookers in the NRL. It might be time for him to move on.

Havili has flaws in his game it showed with the Cutters he did some good things but also made some errors also.

Coster like Wallace and Nona are not signed and can not be used, I think people keep getting this fact confused just because they play for a side affiliated with the Dragons doesn't mean they can just come straight into the squad.

The club has had decent dummy halves within the club Cook, Garvey and Coster who got moved on to keep Rein at an out inflated price.

I sure as hell not pinning my hopes on Havili hoping they look further a field.

Coast, I understand where your coming from but if Rein does leave at years end then they could offer Coster and Co contracts for 2017. Agree Havili has errors but if you played what 40mins if footy out of 480 you'd be rusty too. Don't get me wrong I don't know if Havili is the answer, but money wise he is far cheaper than what might be on the market.
There is a rumour re: Segeyaro considering a move from the Panthers but he has had a bad run with injuries.
Who else would/could we sign and more importantly who would consider us on our present performances?

OT - Rein is too inconsistent.

Coote - looks like another target missed.

Hope to hell they go for Cherrington. As much as I'm a fan of what Havili can bring (especially if we up his game time and give him a decent crack) this kid will be special.

Whilst Rein doesn't help our cause (due to our other issues), he would be valuable to other squads (the Knights or the Titans come to mind).

He's limited, but is a good defender, tough, durable and rarely gets injured, hence is often talked about for Origin. A club like the Titans for instance who are flush with young halves, Rein could be quite valuable and could push his value close to 500k.

We however, given our current issues shouldn't offer him anywhere near that much.

Coote is supposedly in talks with the roosters so you can safely cross him off the list.Manager to coote dragons & roosters both in rebuild mode who would you prefer? Coote i'll take less $ & go with a decent coach so roosters it is.
