Diego I agree D Walker is a great talent but he did what he did......lots of chances
Will agree to disagree about Grant
I'm not one of what ' everyone else on hear is saying " I'm just me ,just one opinion only
Also agree Stewart good player just not right fit for us,but yes he was an animal in defence with his bear hugs to the ground in one second ,amazing strength for his size
And not as good as Isaac in great form in his prime but not far off and only young
Isaac spent half his time suspended ......

Grant and mcqueen at best are depth bench players? Both at their best have played origin. Walker is young and brash, but surely a bit of extra money could of kept him. No threats out wide has really stifled our attack. It's not that sam isn't a better player then these guys, that's a given, it's that sams inclusion has dramatically altered the team, it's put a huge division in the team, to say that there aren't problems within the group is putting your head in the sand. Sam coming back meant me lost a huge amount of depth, we lost first graders and replaced them with fringe first graders, now when we get injuries/suspensions we don't have those fringe first graders to rely on because they are now permanent first graders. It was all worth it because Sam is superman and he'll do it all himself. Now that Sam has proven to be human everybody is crying that we don't have depth and don't have the players to help him out.

Bensville Rabbit has said everything that I would have said so I'm not going to bang on, but... I cannot agree that McQueen and Grant are more than bench depth.

When we won the comp McQueen was on the bench. Last year he was dropped before the finals and then brought back in because of injuries. Would he start for the Broncos, Cowboys, Storm or Sharks? No chance. He is starting for a team that is worse than ours and made less than 50 metres with the ball in the 38 - 0 flogging by the Storm. Would he add depth, yes. But he is no better than bench depth on a team trying to win it all (imo same as Carter, Grevs and to a lesser extent Turner (who played most of 2014 starting ahead of McQueen in his rookie year)).

Grant couldn't make the first grade team at Penrith. We paid good money for him (who the hell knows why) and he spent most of last year coming off the bench (some time at Norths) and under performing so much that we were happy to let him go. Would he start for the Broncos, Cowboys, Storm or Sharks? Again no chance. Would he add depth, yes. But again, imo he is no better than bench depth on a team trying to win it all.

I hear you may be signing Sam Anderson from Redcliffe, formally with the panthers.

Played the final 7 games of the 2014 season and has been in QLD cup since. Is in solid form and played today in the residents match.

Good young prop who has a similar game play to Matt Scott. Solid and good work ethic. Has been a form player in qld cup.

It would be a solid upgrade on Tyrell or Clark for that matter.

I'll let you know if I hear more.

There was a lot of politics surrounding why he didn't play first grade at Penrith. The general consensus is we needed him to leave. He wasn't setting the world on fire in NSW cup but could have been brought up a number of times.

He didn't play that great for you but he sure is doing well at the Tigers. Maybe the Rabbitohs weren't a good fit.

2015 was a bad time for Grant to land at Souths.

One of my clients works with the NRL and was within upper management of Sydney clubs in various capacities and mentioned that tigers had offered him an incentive salary for 2016 and $175 for 2017 but was rejected for another Sydney club. When I asked what club specifically he only said that Souths had offered a $180k and looked to be all but sealed for 2017.

An interesting comment he also made was that he's looking to reunite with Ivan Cleary for 2017. Is it possible that he may be coaching in some capacity at the Rabbitohs? I've heard the rumour that Cleary had been ousted from Penrith as he was in very deep discussions with a Sydney club, believed to be the Rabbitohs for 2017.

Tariq first, then Korbin and Ashton can stay overseas. Although if it takes signing him to get the other 2 then go for it. He can take Tyrrels no.1 Norths prop spot.

There is a mini clean out at Souths coming at the end of the year guys like Tyrell, Clark etc are free to find other clubs

Stewart was one of our best last year. Before he had a falling out with maguire in the last few games everybody on this forum loved him. He came 2nd in this forums 3-2-1 for the year but apperently he was useless all year and everybody always hated him.

he started off the season well, but then his form dropped

I'd swap Grevs if possible. I think this is a year to look to the future and he isn't a part of that. Swapping him for someone who is is good management.

it's only good management if the replacement is as good or better

Thanks Exs, very interesting indeed.

If the rumours are true and Cleary is the coach of the Rabbitohs how do we all feel about it?

the flip side to all this is that Madge will be at the Warriors.

He won't have a squad if he implements his regime there!!

Honestly if the sims rumour was true I'd be very happy with that. Both have a great deal of potential to which Tariq has only come close to fulfilling. Both Cleary or madge would extract the best from them.

Isaac Luke would be over the moon.

Lol, who would break first, Madge or the players? I don't have a problem with Cleary myself.

Isaac Luke would be over the moon.

I'd like to see the look on his face when he realises he's back under Madge!

Cleary would be a step backwards for Souths

Maguire on the other hand would be a great coach for the Warriors. His main weakness at Souths has been recruitment. At the Warriors recruitment would look after itself with their strong stream of U20s players coming through. Warriors will win a premiership under Maguire if he goes there
