Do you blokes reckon we could replace him with a better coach?

No. And I'd like to keep him. But it's also fair to question how far the knowledge of cap cheating extended and where the blame truly lies. And also the signings are fair game, even if it's too early to tell with Foz.

Brad Arthur is a top coach. I'd re-sign him definitely but his Manly acquisitions besides maybe David Gower have been terrible so far. Choc and Foran collectively have cost $2 Million a season.

Besides, no one has said he's got the full support of the board so he's not gonna get the flick at least.

There's been no suggestion that I'm aware of that the coach negotiated any of the contracts, or had anything to do with alleged false/inflated invoices, or the allegedly non-arms length deals with 3rd parties. Why is any of that the coach's fault? Or am I missing something here?

Why is any of that the coach's fault? Or am I missing something here?

I'm not suggesting he'd have negotiated contracts. But like most NRL coaches he'd have a good deal of control over his squad. And would have had talks with those who manage the cap and negotiate contracts. There's a fair chance he had an idea of the sort of stuff required to get the squad he wanted.

Maybe once Bennett is finished with the Broncos and eventually carks it we could wheel him in to Parramatta "Weekend at Bernie's" style. Finally an eels coach to rival the great Jack Gibson.
