Odd, ugly game that, but we got the points and that's really what mattered. A little hard to separate players for points to be honest, so these will be contentious.

3: SJ - playing on one leg but still pulled out the big play when it mattered to get us over the line. Didn't overplay his hand otherwise.
2: Gubb - sparked the team when he came on with his enthusiasm. We went up a gear and got the resulting lead.
1: Maumalo - yes he's a rubbish winger but he tried his guts out and made a ton of good tough carries today for a game high 181m. And on a day when everyone's execution was a bit off, effort goes a long way.

Hon mentions, Vete, Luke, Fus, Mannering

Maumalo, really? That's interesting. 190m maybe (that will very likely drop in revisions), but also got himself binned (should have been a penalty try but they don't give those anymore) for a boneheaded play after being totally defensively exposed, dropped an easy ball for a 1v1 around (maybe just inside?) the 10m which was a potential try and gave away another penalty.

3. Johnson - clearly not right, possibly shouldn't have played, still came up with the winner in the end plus a good linebreak.
2. Mannering - all-around good performance.
1. Luke - started like he had a concussion, ended up playing like a champion.

Fusitua, Matulino, Lisone & Gubb hon mentions.. Ayshford also

-1000. Cappy - WHAT THE HELL IS THIS IDIOT DOING. Can't be bothered to elaborate right now, but that was just...

edit; changed after thinking about it a little

3. Simon Mannering - his work defending the middle was outstanding especially when this was the Roosters strong suit.
2. Issac Luke - first time playing without a knee restraint, so smart in the small things he does. He will carry the team.
1. SJ – On one leg but played very cleaver. He has figured the game out.

3. vete
2. Ayshford
1. Roache....for a rake playing on the wing, certainly didnt let himself down. Although one must question why the roosters didnt send SKD out that way.

3. Mannering
2. Luke
1. Ayshford

Hon mention SJ - mostly for the clutch play, injured or not he was gun shy again

Maumalo would have won points if he was playing in the forwards, but as a winger he was absolutely atrocious. Bin and knock on aside, a couple of SJ bombs went up and he was just bumming around not even bothering to contest.

3- Mannering
2- Vete
1- Ayshford

this'll do. Maumolo oh my gosh he is so not a winger. Great runs after his sin bin tho. Good tough win that in an ugly game. They showed some mental fortitude, which considering our team's recent history and in the absence of skill or mistake free footy today, will do wonders for their confidence.

Huge game from the forwards - taking on a bigger pack without Bull.
So I'll go

3 Mannering
2 Matulino
1 Luke

Honorable mentions: Ayshford, Roache and Sipley.

Good to see the team win an arm wrestle.

3. Mannering - met the first hit up of the game with interest, and never let us down from there.

2. Ayshford - it was a game where silly mistakes coulda/shoulda cost us and Ayshford played well. In a game of terrible passing was his looping '8-10 metres backward shocker' to Johnson deliberate? It gave Johnson room to attack from the deep and score.

1. Luke - far from perfect but he's putting in the required, and expected, effort. Such a dominant player when in form.

I thought he was on point yesterday. Contained JWH, played big minutes and showed heart(chasing down all the line breaks the roosters made)

Gotta back it up next week

Yep I remembered all that and more. I shouldve given him an honourable mention now that I think about it. His offloads havent been too good but I dont him to stop trying because he can create old Benny.
