In regards to SAMs ( alleged deterioration and poor form )
On one of the footy shows recently they had a table of SAMs stats 2014 and 2016
More run metres,more tackle busts,more offloads in 16
SAMs not in poor form at all,it's some others around him who aren't putting their body into the collision in my opinion
Again it's got nothing to do with Sams on field performances. It's the off field problems that have risen and huge divisions in the playing group, coaching staff and management.
As for sam having no one else around him to help, well thats the effect of using all your forward salary cap on the burgess brothers. We had to shift off first graders (in form or not, they were at least first graders) and replace them with depth players in the 17.
As for the stats, obviously they dont tell a true story. Think to sams run into the grand final. We weren't so much talking abouts how many metres he was making, more about how he was charging into the defensive line with full force, running over guys, getting quick play the ball's, forcing penalties. We weren't so much talking about the amount of offlaods as we were talking about him setting up other's with well timed offloads. We weren't talking about how many tackles he made, but about how every tackle was ferocious and he tried to intimidate the other teams forward leaders. Is that happening this year? So while the stats are the same the runs aren't and his making more errors, his offloads are just putting others under pressure and it's been weeks since he put a hit on anyone. It may be fair to say, but opposing packs don't fear the burgess brothers anymore
