Gareth Widdop is past his use by date at Dragons

Nighty lacks speed we know, but he is safe under the bomb, it's bad but he needs to retire, Widdop needs to be dropped, rein should be sacked also, he was just as bad as Widdop

The most telling thing for mine is when Rein split the markers in the first half and put Widdop into a half gap up the middle and he dropped the ball. Rein gave him an absolute serve and Widdop just looked at the ground.

The guy has had a very bad year no doubt, but when a player berates the captain on field that's not good.

When the captain has no response either through words or actions that's worse.

When the team aren't standing together...that's the worst.

The team are clearly an unhappy bunch atm.

How McGregor could justify the selection of Widdop, McCrone, Marshall in FG again (apart from that's all we have) is beyond me. He was the awesome coach that wanted these halves. He has dug his own grave.

I suspect Widdop will come good again but not under McGregor and it seems some other club will benefit.

put a line thru them for the eight. who would have thought the titans would finish them? titans were bottom 4 material pre-season. such a difference to the saints side that stormed into the finals last year.

Agree 100%...under a decent coach he would thrive. The tension between him and MacGregor was obvious in the press conference. Widdop's body language said it all. Doesn't look happy.

Stating the obvious but Widdop is not a dominant half but we pay him like one. He needs to play off a halfback who is directing all the play.

And yes his short kicking game is appalling. For mine this is why Marshall and Widdop has never worked as a combination as they are jut too similar in that they need a halfback to play off.

And something that McGregor can never be forgiven for is recruiting McCrone. McCrone's best days were behind him 2-3 years ago. He was woeful at the Raiders last season and played all of 3-4 games. I doubt anyone could predict how few games Benji would play but signing McCrone as backup was a serious error in judgement.

I think he was actually staring at him disbelief. He couldn't believe he was getting a serve from a player who was actually the one at fault for yet another shit pass.

His confidence is obviously down. If Mary had some nous about him he would shift him to FB and kill 2 birds with one stone. He would have a ball playing fullback and Widdop would no longer need to be the main kicker.

How bad is he!! Absolutely terrible. The Red V jersey has been well and truly cheapened over the space of 5 years.

I think you have to give Widdop an opportunity under a decent coach first. Having said that there is no doubt in my mind that FFL, Nightie (I'm sorry), Lafai, Benji, McCrone and probably Rein all need to be moved on. We won't make the 8 so let's try Milne in the centres , Mann at 5/8, Havili at hooker for 60 minutes if he's no good them move him on,Widdop to 1/2, Quinlan again at fullback and if he's no good move him on to. Don't make excuses do something.

My view is that Gareth is a quality player. He is an attacking runner and durable. Reasonably good goal kicker. He can tackle and yes missed huge Conrad last night but generally stops them.

Something is up with the team that is causing some disharmony. You just sense it.

I am not anti Mitch Rein, plenty worse than him. He is quick about the field, makes ground and never gives in.

I Congratulate Kurt Mann for his recent efforts. Both try's last night were scored by a guy who wants to get over the line. Pushed through traffic to score. Maybe Mann to 5/8 and Gareth to fullback.

Euan again out jumped badly and no body seems to want to observe that again last night he was clearly outplayed by a quality centre (Hoffman). Yes made some strong runs but missed a few crucial tackles badly. They bombed KFFL and Euan constantly. Titans knew our weakness.

Please don't overhype Frizzel. He is good but not that good.
