With Richo in charge of recruitment, I'm sure he will raid Qld cup and Super League players. I just hope he hurry, we don't want left overs from Qld cup/Super League

South Sydney Rabbitohs to offer Robbie Farah two-year deal to leave Wests Tigers

THE Rabbitohs are firming as favourites to get Robbie Farah out of what has become an untenable situation at the Wests Tigers, with the 2014 premiers set to table a two-year deal.

Fox Sports NRL reporter Lara Pitt told Monday Night with Matty Johns Souths are “pulling out all the stops” to bring Farah to Redfern, with Shane Richardson holding a discussion with Farah’s manager Sam Ayoub.

That meeting followed a phone call from Rabbitohs owner Russell Crowe to Farah, with the club heavyweights making their intentions clear as the NSW hooker weighs up his options.

Whether or not he decides to make a home at Redfern, Farah looks to have played his last game for the club he won a premiership with in 2005, leaving him stranded three games short of his 250th for the Tigers, despite still having a year to run on his contract.

The star hooker was dumped to reserve grade three weeks ago and Jason Taylor’s men have been unbeaten since, and are now rolling towards an unlikely finals berth.

The final year of Farah’s contract is set to cost the club just shy of $1 million but the Tigers are understood to be willing to consider any offer to take their former skipper off their hands, meaning the Rabbitohs or any other interested club could potentially get an Origin hooker for less than $200,000-per-season.

It’s an offer that might be too good to refuse, with Farah linked to Souths, the Dragons and the Sharks in recent weeks.

The show’s host Matthew Johns urged Farah to take the lifeline being offered and make a new start with Souths.

“It’d be a great move for both parties,” Johns said.

“I think it’s a move that would give him a new lease on life, Robbie. And Souths, I’m watching the way they have been playing and they need a new direction in the way they play.

“Robbie Farah in the nine (jersey), I think he would really help that. The understanding out there is it’s just a matter of time, it’s going to happen. So, Robbie Farah to be a Rabbitoh.”

I think someone mentioned there is a winger playing for mounties that is scoring tries at will Otto or something i wish richo would pounce and sign him from under that arsewhips nose stuart who pinched our u18s prop
There is also mention of a big winger in qld cup playing well who we could try as well

Luke Lewis agrees to one year extension with the sharks.
Apperently we chased him but couldn't fit him under the cap. If it turns out we missed out on one of the best second rowers in the comp, in a position we are extremely thin in, for a reserve grade hooker, in a position we have 2 younger players in, then we are a pretty stupid club.

McInnes rumoured to Dragons according to foxports

Nearly all of Sths players have gone backwards over the past 2 yrs--in fact,I can't really think of one that has shown any great improvement.
I put this down to the coach "strangulating" the players natural games.

Some players can cope with this domineering approach but many can't. Some go into their shell & we never see the best of them.

Sths have already lost players due to this & have failed to attract good ones for the same reason.

I still think we have a considerable problem with our coach & I hope his contract is NOT extended--at least not until we see how things progress in the 2017 season.

Robbie Farah of the Wests Tigers

South Sydney assistant coach Matt King has given the strongest indication yet that embattled Wests Tigers hooker Robbie Farah is headed to the club.

Reports have emerged in recent days that the Rabbitohs have met Farah's manager as the NSW Origin hooker continues to be named in reserve grade.

And while King insists he knows only what he has read in the media, he expects Farah to be at the club in 2017.

"The papers don't usually get it too far wrong," he played Sky Sports Radio's Big Sports Breakfast.

"By all reports Robbie is on the way to the club. I'd like to give a little shout to Cam McInnes and Damien Cook who have been there for us this year and done a great job.

"If Robbie does come back, obviously he will bring that experience and that little extra something out of (number) nine, but those two guys have been great for us this year."

Souths have lost eight straight matches, which is their worst streak since they lost nine in a row over the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

They also desperately require added spark, scoring just an average of eight points a match in their past five losses.

Farah already has close ties to the Rabbitohs given his brother, Eddie, is the club's physio.

And King, who played his nine Origin matches for NSW before Farah made his debut, said the 32-year-old would be a welcome addition.

"Eddie is our physio and he's a really good fellow, so if Robbie is half the bloke that Eddie is then he will fit into our club fine."

South Sydney star Sam Burgess has already endorsed the possible signing if he's brought to the club.

If Robbie Farah joins the Rabbitohs next year, it’s likely one of their hookers will leave the burrow.

Word is Cameron McInnes could be that man and the Dragons, after missing out on his signature last year, are ready to pounce.

Damien Cook was shopped around earlier this season but on less money than McInnes, Cook looks safe in the burrow for now.
