I do not get the Dugan love - No foot work - No real speed. He is just strong and safe. Makes a great club level player. I would say he has declined over the last season or so.

Hayne had a nice long cut out ball to the winger very Tim smith/Todd carney like . Moylans passing game is best in NRL and by a fair bit now. He is almost lockyer like which I always thought he could develop into.. He has a lot more range in his passing game. Elegant and great to watch. You can have a guy like Maloney who can be as effective thou with what id call an average passing game which is hard to understand.

Maloney has more toughness in his pinky toe than moylan ... his threat is that he can run which keeps defenders honest and allows him to slip even a simple pass when his outside man gets open

Just because he led the league in LBAs doesn't mean he suddenyl has the best passing game. I'm sure Thurston still has the best passing game, and if his LBAs aren't stellar it's due to his declining running game (so less threat to draw defenders) and the fact he has two good playmaking options outside him. Moylan spent the year with a couple of rookie halves, so of course he got early ball whenever anything was on. Hayne was third in the NRL in LBAs (behind Thurston and Marshall) in 2011 just because our halves were so ordinary.

I would say Haynes game in every area bar passing and short kicking game was superior and a superior player. Running game was not just better but perhaps 3-4 times as good. And same as his defense. FAR superior.

Passing game was good but I didn't really think it was great. One trick long cut out pass to the wing was his bread and butter. I am not sure I saw a whole lot more. And the reason was he would run out wide and defenders saw a dual threat and become confused - If they rush up he throws a cut out pass while if they hold back he slices thru. No real short passes to forwards at line etc....
I am talking just passing game thou. If Moylan had a better running game he would be biggest attacking threat in NRL.

His range was good when he hit the Scottish player on the chest. Was also not the only time in the game he was at risk of being intercepted. Does LBAs count if it's the other team you're assisting

Who says I base all my arguments on stats? I only bother to look for stats when I want to test an observation or support an argument on here. It's certainly better than offering no evidence at all. And I never said Moylan's LBAs are 'irrelevant' - they show he is an elite playmaker - they just don't tell the whole story when comparing him to others.

So disabuse yourself of the notion that I start with the stats and make my decisions from there. I always start with the observation first. The stats are what I provide when others demand proof. I also provide link to video, though it takes longer to find appropriate stuff and I usually cbf.
