Round 2 vs Dragons - Team List Thread

Does anyone thinking BA will make changes for the game against the Dragons?
According to Parra Eels website last week, the following are available for Round 2:
Ualesi
Vave
Nelson
Auva’a

I spoke with IDG on Friday and he wont be back for a few more weeks he reckons so the only unforced change we might see is Vave in for Windscreens.

Vave will offer us plenty of punch off the bench, the Dragons pack was very good against the Panthers.

I really liked Vave's game against us last year, good carrys and good offloads

Looking forward to seeing him play for us.

I tell you what windscreens offers that Vave can't ... his defence in the middle is solid whilst it's a glaring weakness in Vave' s game...

I wouldn't be shocked if Vave got one game at Wenty to blow out the cobwebs. We can certainly carry him on the bench in first grade if need be given the fitness of our pack but he might be better for the run in the ISP.

How does it work these days?
We had Gower and King play for Wenty on Saturday and then 18th and 19th man on Sunday and complete all the warm ups.

The new rules about naming a squad of 21 then cutting it down to 19 included the following rule:

• Any players included in the 19-man squad will be deemed ineligible for selection in the final 17-man squad if they play in a NSW/QLD Cup match prior to the NRL match

So effectively if we had a player injured in the warm up, we'd have had to play the game with 16?

Agree. I think it is a bad idea to have him and Frank on the bench. I wouldn't want either to play more then 20 mins till match fit.
Rory has a nice offload and attract defenders. He had 24 mins and made 81 mtrs which is solid.

I'd also give O'Brien another run this week, while Vave has his first hitout for Wenty aa see how he's doing.

So Vave into the 21 squad and the 19, but not the gameday 17. And maybe Avua'a in the 21 but not the 19? Otherwise, as per Round 1.

Although we won on the weekend, I would prefer us to a play a utility on the bench.

2 reasons.

1) It covers us in term of any injuries in the backs or at hooker.

2) It is very hard to balance 4 bench forwards and give them the right minutes. I don't think Frank came on until the last 15 mins. Could be wrong.

I didn't like hoff. Too small.

Remember when they bombed Gutho on the wing? I fear Hoff will get smashed.

I guess with Hoff in the team, he can cover for injuries in a number of possies

King & Gower Couldnt be named in the final 17 but as emergency reserves would prob be allowed to play if someone got injured during warm-up

I believe he missed a tackle in the front line for one of the tries
