They were willing to give baloney 800
They have the mill in case gronk signs
The cap went up 2mill
6 to 8 duds shown the door
If there isnt a mill sitting there who TF stole it?? Come on its not rocket science

The cap has gone up $2m but the list has also been expanded by 5 and minimum wage is up to about $100k if i recall correctly. Of the 6 to 8 duds that have been released, how many would've been earning more than minimum?
There will be some money not being used but a lot of clubs would be in the same situation and perhaps even have more money sitting spare.
The 5 extra players added to the first team would automatically take up $500k, plus any extra money that may have been negotiated so that leaves us with at most $1.5m. We're paying an extra $500k for Farah this season and we have re-signed a couple of players who i dare say got a raise. Suddenly it's all tight again.

Some players may also automatically get a raise in line with the rising salary cap, those that have signed in the past 12 months.

I think we have over $1m, to spend. It's looking like there will be some good news about Angus & just maybe Cooper Cronk.

The bad news will be for, I'm thinking Cody Walker & or A. Reanalds. Burgie might even be split up.

The exciting crop of young guys is giving us a heap of options.

I doubt Walker will be moved on seeing as his family and himself is the focus of media drive for membership.

If they did however that's pretty dopey. So it's a ea way bet.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce that the Club has signed a contract extension with young utility forward Lucky Ta’avale until at least the end of the 2019 season.

Ta’avale, 19, can play across various positions in the forward pack and despite an injury-interrupted 2017 season, he proved himself to be a valuable member of the under 20s squad’s forward pack across his 18 games this year.

A big body standing 192cm tall and weighing in at 105kg, Ta’avale has a strong running game and is equally adept in defence.

Rabbitohs Head Coach Anthony Seibold is pleased to see the Club has secured Ta’avale for the next two seasons at a minimum.

“Lucky had the opportunity to train with the NRL squad on a number of occasions throughout the 2017 season and he impressed us on every occasion,” Coach Seibold said.

“He showed great potential playing under 20s this year, he has a strong work ethic and never shirked any of the hard work when he trained with the top squad.

“He will develop over the next 12 months, both physically and in terms of his game awareness and it’s exciting to think about where Lucky can get to with his game.”

Strong work ethic is the best part of that article. Welcome to the squad lucky.

Brett Morris is looking likely to come to Souths. I'm all for this. He was one of the best NSW players this year. He's hanging up the boots from origin as a bonus. Bulldogs will be paying part of his wage. If he does end up coming I'd assume the backline would look something like.

1. GI
2. AJ
3. Hunt
4. Gagai
5. Brett Morris

That's a backline I can get excited about. Let hunt/Jennings/burns/Arthars/
Graham. all fight it out for the number 3.

Do we really need to be paying overs for a , admittedly, quality winger? Might be an idea to let the young guys fight it out & spend the cash on a quality half ( I'm hoping for Cronk.)

No thanks to Morris. He's the kind of signing I'd expect if we're pushing for a premiership, not building towards one

We should be concentrating on bringing the young guys through. We already have Angus & Zane plus 4 or 5 not far away.

If we can be top 8 in 2018, i think we are doing well. Sure top 4 would be better & I'm thinking we could get there.

Yeah I'd take Morris as long as the Dogs are paying part of his contract.

I'd only pay him 400k and I'd make the Dogs pay their half.

Then for 2019 we could offer him 400-450k.

We need some experience with such a young team and injuries can hit.

I believe Gagai is a right side centre which is where Hunt plays so Hunt may have to play left centre.....

Where are you hearing the Morris rumour???

We need some experience there though and Morris would be a good signing.....

Jennings and Burns plus Hunt are not week in and week out first graders as we have seen.

Campbell needs more time in reserves......

Fui belongs in the second row and Talakai isn't a centre....

I'm all for Brett Morris.....

Plus injuries hit so you need depth....

Yea neither. I'd love him and still hope it may happen but I'm happy with Reynolds and Walker. Reyno just needs to pull his fingers out big time.

I actually think we do. When I look at games this year the only standout outside back we have is AJ. I understand we're building towards something but if we're gonna push for a finals spot next year we're gonna need both Morris and Cronk. At the end of the day we don't even need cronk if AR returns to form. I put priority on our outside backs area I think it's extremely weak. We're getting a bargain if we're only paying for half of his contract.

GI is an experienced leader amongst the outside backs while AJ and Gagai despite being young should also be considered leaders amongst the group.
It all depends on how much cap room we have spare and if the Dogs pay a good chunk of his wage then it might be a decent deal but I'd only sign him for a year. His body is beginning to fail him and the game is passing him by i believe.
