The thing about Moylan is , the general league fan does not rate him any where near as high as Penrith fans do ..... the views are everywhere.

We better ditch Cartwright then too, because f**k all rate him either.

I wonder, did you pay this much attention to neutral fans when Griffin was appointed?

The truth, like it usually is, lies in the middle.

He’s not the second coming, but he should’ve been playing 5/8 for us much earlier than he did. He has skills for that position that others didn’t.

The Lockyer comparisons absolutely cruelled him among non panthers fans. Media hype BS.

Very true.

Virtually all non panthers fans were scratching their heads at the Griffin appointment. Those that knew him best, the broncos fans, were laughing.

The big thing that I have noticed in the last few days since the swap news has come out, is the views and opinions of many league media, and league fans that have no links with Penrith or the Sharks...... around 90% of the feedback is about what a great deal this is for the Panthers , and how massively we have come out on top with the swap.

I 100% agree.
I will hold judgement. It won't really be known who got the better end of it until the end of next season or even the season after. If Moylan fulfils his potential and remains at Cronulla, they'll have done extremely well out of it.

Those that knew him best, the broncos fans, were laughing.
Broncos fans reckoned Petero was washed up when he came to Penrith too. And Wallace as well. That is the nature of Broncos fans. I wouldn't pay much attention to them. It's a bit like admitting your ex, who you dumped, is a stunner.

No one else rated the likes of Blake Austin. Lachlan Coote. Te Maire Martin. Michael Jennings. Wade graham etc. As highly as Panthers fams did either.

Matt Moylan seems to be rated pretty highly by other teams coaches. They see his talent. They see how it's wasted here and they see whay he can bring to their team.

But we have a simple coach who cant get the best out if players. He cant even get established players to perform at their best. Put a player in our jersey and he will be considerably worse for us than he was the opposition team. Take our good players and out them in a good team... they are a shitload better.

It happens so ffequently that it camt be coincidence. Look at the try scorers in this world cup. Former Panthers are scoring multiple tries.

Wade graham with 4
Jennings at hat trick and a double
Tmm a hat trick
Hiku a hat trick

I dont even rate Hiku but hes away from us for 6 months and looks competent again. The only shit part of his career was with us under Griffin. But hey its probably just a coincidence that guys get better when they leave and worse when they are here.

Was Blake Austin a huge loss? He played well last season. I rate as an average half.

Coote was moved on as a younger better player emerged. Gordon by memory for the same thing.
And as far as Lewis,Moylan,Jennings they where on huge $$$

Was Frank Pritchard missed or Grant? They went backwards.

Graheme was the only guy I never understood letting go. Was cheap and at time wished Parra threw him a lifeline.

But while playing this game what about being fair to your club. They picked up Latu, Mansour, Peachey who not many had heard of and turned them into very good players.

Teams like Parra and Penrith with a lot of juniors always will let a few good ones go. And miss some good ones at times.
But even the rooster may regret letting Watson go for Cronk.

Austin - Cleary didn't know what to do with him and moved him on from memory. I think under a Bellamy he could be a better player than he is.

Coote we know why he was moved on. Moylan was coming through and to fair he had a bad run with injuries and needed a change.

Gordon wanted to play fullback and with Moylan coming through all the offer was going to be for a winger's wage. He got a bigger upgrade and played fullback elsewhere. Good luck to him.

Lewis was on a heavily back ended deal and he fell out with Cleary?? Something happened and he was moved on. Club captain gone.
Jennings had off field issues and attitude problems. Like Lewis on heavily back ended deal the club needed funds to better spread the cap.

Pritchard and Grant we didn't miss.

Wade Graham was the one we should have held on too. I don't think Elliot knew what to do with him. So he let him leave.(Idiot Elliott). If he stayed I think under Cleary he would probably either put in the Blake Austin basket of I don't know whats your best position or developed as half the player he is now. Flanagan deserve praise for being the player he is now. IMO.

If we live in a perfect world I would have loved to have kept Lewis and Graham. Lewis should have been the 1st Panther to play 300 games and his experience would have been vital the last few years. Wasn't to be.

It does give you the shits letting talented players go in their prime. You can't keep then all, but as a fan you see them come through the grades and think what a great player he will be for us. Hopefully a 10+ career.
It just doesn't seem to happen any more. The last 10 years the game has changed so much in regards players leaving or being forced out. One club players are becoming rarer.

Petero may not have been washed up but he was a poor signing if the talk is to be believed that he & others controlled the locker room. Also the money that was sunk into a prop was absurd.

Tbh though the broncos fans judgement of Griffin has proven spot on. Go back and look at their criticisms in the broncos forum, most didn’t think he was a bad coach, just that he didn’t really have the X factor to take a team to the top. Ie. he couldn’t coach offensive structures.

 Mx TMM will be behind JT/Morgan. Hiku will be 3rd or 4th choice centre so in the same spot as they would be here.

Elliott said Graham wasn't a half he was correct he is a backrower. At the time we had Lewis/Pritchard/Waterhouse backrower.

Cleary saw Austin as centre. He was a 5/8th so all have reasons why they went

From Danny Weidler’s column in the SMH

Hopefully at lunch he told all 3 he would look after them financially

Gus and Flanagan hatch swap deal
The Matt Moylan-James Maloney swap deal was hatched on Monday. It had been mooted for a month, but the action took place when Panthers general manager Phil Gould sat down with Shane Flanagan face-to-face.

Flanagan had been away for a family holiday. Gould and Flanagan had agreed to have a discussion when he got back. When Flanagan returned to Australia he called Gould and said he wanted Moylan. The pair then met and agreed to the deal.

One of Moylan's third-party arrangements is the issue. It's a six-figure deal and once that is sorted out, the deal will be officially announced.

Moylan was at Panthers training on Tuesday to continue rehab on his knee. He has been very diligent in recent weeks.

Gould took a group of players out for lunch on Wednesday – Nathan Cleary, Tyrone May and Dylan Edwards – all who are directly affected by the swap.

There’s always reasons, but some of them were wrong.

I mean Waterhouse was passed it, Elliott should’ve recognised that.

SINNERS

PENRITH spin-doctors. Nobody ever seriously believed Matt Moylan was going to stay and play under Panthers coach Anthony Griffin. Bust-ups happen in footy. Stop treating your members and fans like fools.

Exactly. I get politics needs to play a part, but bald faced lies aren’t necessary. There’s a diplomatic angle that can be taken where fans won’t feel like they’ve been totally stuffed around.

I honestly don't care about the club not coming out and being open about everything - it's not an optimal policy to do this, and the fans I think are being a little too sensitive (and quite frankly, naive to believe everything sportspeople say to the press).

The thing that pisses me off is whenever a rumor comes out and we discuss it, as fans are wont to do, the usual suspects on here always get in a tizzy, moaning that its a rumor and that we can't trust the sources and that we are bad fans for not believing the club and we should just shut up etc. Hopefully this will teach them a little lesson that sometimes rumors are true and there is nothing wrong with addressing them in an online forum.

In other words, I hope it will just shut them up for half a second in their never-ending quest to be the World's Greatest Superfan. Yes, many rumors don't pan out. But some obviously do. So suck it up and let people talk about them if they want.

All the clubs seem to do it in one way or another.

You are right about posters backing anything the clubs says, but what annoys me is when this stuff goes on during membership renewal time.

It feels like the clubs are trying to not rock the boat as some members may not renew if they are pissed off. It's short sighted and insulting to be frank.
