Souths Till I Die

Offering Angus anything over 500k shows signs of desperation which the managers feed off. If Boyd is on 750k at the Roosters as club captain, origin captain, future Aussie capt, premiership winner, 80 minute player with 150 games and still young, then Angus is worth half of that. He is keen to go to a club with a premiership on the cards Roosters are chance and so is Cronulla. Roosters are offering $450 a year so it's not the money, plus he hates the coach and his best mate got stitched up. There is more to these things than just cash, his family has plenty anyway.
You need to buy a half, hooker and a long term ball playing full back to be any chance to be competitive not spend all your money on forwards. They don't help your attack and your attack was hopeless last year.
He had a super year last year considering the right side attack doesn't exist because both hookers can't pass effectively from left to right or off the ground. If he backs it up and plays origin this year he will get 500k next year otherwise you would've spent your cash on potential instead of results.

Unfortunately that's something most Souths supporters fail to see. Let's talk about a well paid second rower for a second. Let's say it's a rep second rower that has proven himself on many levels. Before the cap increase he'll be worth 500k but after the cap increase he'll probably be worth about 750k. People on here are talking about giving a guy who hasn't proven himself on any level whatsoever more than proven NRL stars.

I'm gonna be completely honest here. If the Titans game never happened this wouldn't even be a debate.

I cannot believe some of the things I am reading on here. Who would have thought there’d be so many Souths supporters willing to let go the best young forward we’ve had in 6 or 7 years. As a couple have said, he is worth whatever someone is willing to pay him, and to us he is worth more. He makes his tackle breaks running sideways? What bullshit! He should be on half of Cordner? f**king nonsense. Pay peanuts and get monkeys. Angus will be worth every cent he gets paid, I just hope the cheque has SSFC at the top.

Angus is a big sideways runner. James Tedesco does it a lot too. If you're going sideways along the line palming off players that come in for a tackle you're gonna rack up 3 tackle breaks per run. Does that make them effective? Not really.. Just think back to when you're a youngster playing footy there's a reason everyone is screaming at the kid that runs sideways. It's not effective and it actually reduces the potential Metres you can make.

Murray is an excellent ball runner. He runs it fast and hard. Angus is an excellent line runner when he runs hard and fast but he doesn't always do this. To be fair to him though AR did not give him good ball which is a massive problem.

Second in tackle busts for forwards, fifth in line breaks for forwards.

These are indisputable facts.

You aren't being honest, you're sticking your fingers in your ears and ignoring facts that don't fit your narrative and it's destroying any credibility your opinion has.

I'm not ignoring any facts. You're an absolute moron if you think those stats equate to being the highest paid second rower in the game. Speak to me when you can come up with a decent argument.

That Titans comment is absolute nonsense. He won ever single award, other than the big one, at the awards night. Most on here had him as our best player for the year, persinally I think it was Sam. He was one of our 2 best players in nearly every game we played. He was awesome against the Titans, but he was very good week in week out. He is the best young 2nd rower in the comp and he is worth every penny we pay him.

Stop saying things that are blatantly false if you're this thin skinned about people disagreeing with you.

Pretty childish resorting to name calling when all I've done is question the logic (or lack thereof) behind your opinion.

If you think back to every game this year and you pick out games that Angus won for us the first one you would think of is the Titans game. Can you think of any others? Because I sure can't. If Angus never had that break out Titans game people wouldn't be talking about giving him 800k I'm almost sure of it. Sure it's an opinion but I seriously don't think people would be suggesting his worth 800k if the game never happened.

You're accusing me off having no logic behind my opinion yet you sit there and blurt out the same line. "2nd in tackle breaks, 5th in line breaks equals 800k a year". The hypocrisy there is unreal.

You're saying Sam Burgess is better yet you're willing to give him just as much as Sam.

I said Sam was better last year and not by much. By 2019, I wouldn’t he surprised if Angus is as good as Sam (many think he was last year). Also Sam got paid 2 years ago, Angus will be getting paid 3 years after Sam signed. The cap goes up every year, Sam’s next contract will be more than 800k. I have no idea what your problem is.

Blatantly false. He was one of our best and most consistent for the entire season.

The facts back it up. You're just refusing to accept it and killing your own credibility.

What facts? I'm happy to kill my credibility if the only facts you can bring up are the fact that he's second for tackle Busts and 4th in linebreaks. Do you really think I care? Besides this argument is going no where. I'm a stubborn merkin and I don't understand your point of view at all. It doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, you've gone full cognitive dissonance.

You tried to argue that the stats backed up your argument, then when it was proven that they didn't you refused to accept it.

I'm glad you're willing to lose credibility, because every time you say something blatantly false I'll be more than happy to call you on it.

The stats prove my argument much more than yours. Saying that he's 2nd in tackle Busts and 4th in linebreaks doesn't equate to being paid the highest paid second rower in the game. If he was to be the highest paid second rower in the game then he should be the most dominant second rower in every stat yet he isn't. He is far from it. I don't understand what's so complicated to understand about that?

He is the most dominant in tackle busts and is the second most dominant in line breaks.

He also pushed Sam Burgess (one of the best forwards in the sport), a guy on 800k in the stats department in his second season.

You refuse to accept any of that because it doesn't fit your narrative.

I'm not surprised you don't understand. Throw "cognitive dissonance" into your Google machine and the definition will explain your problem for you.

Runs sideways...... you must be watching a different game..... he runs direct lines and gains good metres.....

Why do I keep reading 800k....,, we haven't all said that and yet I keep reading that.....

As DKOR said the new thing will be 500k goes up to 700-750 with the increase in cap.....

About 700k a season for Angus imo is what he's worth....

Murray is gonna be special but he doesn't seem to break a game open like Angus can....
