In other words, if someone comes on and says

"Hey everyone, my super secret inside source who I can't tell you about told me that XYZ is going to happen"

they're trying to make the conversation about them and where they got the information.

If they're honest and say

"Hey everyone, I read on a forum that XYZ is going to happen"

then they're making the conversation about XYZ.

A few insecure people getting overly defensive about being asked the obvious question isn't the problem.

It's those people demanding that others believe them, despite giving us no reason to, then sulking like spoiled children if we don't.
For f**ks sake mate give it a rest!

Heard on the radio that Inglis has stated he wants to play in the charity shield.
Not sure if that's been mentioned anywhere here before so sorry if it has.
That's great news considering only days ago we were reading articles saying he won't be rushed even if it means he is not seen to rd3 or 4.

Your example is complete rubbish. You're the one that's making it about the OP and where they got the information by trying to call them out on sources all the time. There is no rule on this forum stating that a rumour must be accompanied by a source. Not in this part of the forum anyway. As I mentioned earlier, it is completely up to you as to who or what you believe, there is no burden of proof on the person posting the rumour.

Internet forums are built on rumours and discussion around said rumours.

Let me make it even clearer for you with some examples...

"I don't believe your rumour" = ok

"You're a liar unless you tell me your source" = not ok

Its pretty simple stuff. Trying to call people out all the time is harassment and that is definitely against the rules. If you can't handle all of this then you're in the wrong place.
I never said giving a source to support your argument was a forum rule. I said it's how adults have a conversation.

I've never said they're lying if they don't tell me.

I say they're lying when they won't tell me, then in the same post desperately try to convince me they're telling the truth.

Discouraging people from asking reasonable questions means you're actively encouraging people to lie. Which kills the credibility of this place.

Why would anyone want to come to this forum if all it produces are lies?

Look... You seem like a reasonably intelligent person... Perhaps you've just not been around an internet forum before and so you don't quite know how they work...

Forums are about discussion. That is why they exist. We talk about things to do with Rugby League and this part of the forum in particular talks about South Sydney. Everyone is free to post whatever they like in here as long as it sticks to the forum rules and they should be free to do so without being harassed. If a rumour is posted, its fuel for discussion. Some of us may believe it, some of us won't. Some of them turn into signings and others don't. After a while you get to know the guys you can trust and the ones that are a bit iffy. Once you get to that stage, you just ignore the iffy ones.

That is how it works. We've had all sorts of liars and bullshit artists here in the past and even now... So what? We also have some people here that are very much in the know. Get to know the good ones and ignore the bad. Its all fuel for discussion.

Harassment on the other hand is what kills forums. If you continually call people out for posting rumours that you think are lies or whatever, sooner or later they stop posting. Apart from that, its just a generally ugly look for the forum. I don't want to log in each day to see you having personal feuds with half a dozen people. Honestly, I don't care how you feel personally about someone else on here and no one else does either. People don't want to know your personal opinion on other posters, its not a "lets all sit around and share our feelings about another member" forum. If you think someone else is a liar, good for you, keep it to yourself, block that person so you don't have to read his shit and move on.

If you listen to what I'm trying to tell you and maybe even read between the lines a little, you'll certainly have a better time around here and you'll last a lot longer.

People who carry on with personal feuds are the first to get the boot.

I have heard he's keeping his options open for the Charity Shield but it could be Round 3 too.

I kind of hope it's Round 3 as I don't want him rushing back.

Asking legitimate questions isn't "harassment" mate. No matter how you try to spin it.

If you state something that goes against conventional thinking, people will ask questions.

If people try to convince me that something's a fact, I'll ask them why they think that.

The only reason you'd get upset about being asked where you heard something is if you were making it up.

Why would anyone want to join this forum when they cop more heat for asking legitimate questions than they do for spreading baseless lies?

Again, if it's phrased "my mate told me" instead of "my super secret, totally reliable inside source told me" then I wouldn't question it at all.

If you desperately try to convince me it's a fact, I will ask questions. No matter how thin skinned the person is.

Doesn't stop them from saying that, but if I'm interested, I'll ask. We're all adults here. Why throw a tantrum about someone asking you a question?

Don’t get the butthurt with Chricton leaving. Yeah it sucks, we made an offer and he declined to take a better offer. Bottom line is that he’s going. So rather than utilise him effectively for a full season, people would rather bench him or drop him out of spite. That’s f**king stupid. Doesn’t do much for team morale and shows poor leadership in terms of recruitment and retaining stars.

I'll tell you what I see and wouldn't see.I wouldn't see Mr Coke investing his time and resources in an employee to make him a more highly skilled and a experienced employee knowing he was jumping ship to Mr Pepsi next year or Mr McDonald doing the same if an employee was moving to Mr Burger King.
What I do see is Mr Politis sitting back knowing that Mr Richardson and Co are investing South Sydney's resources in making Mr Crichton a more experienced and skilled player for his scum of a club next year and sitting back f**king laughing at us!
