Rabada suspended for rest of series

South Africa have been dealt a colossal blow with paceman Kagiso Rabada suspended for the final two matches of the ongoing Test series against Australia.

Rabada was found guilty of deliberately making inappropriate contact with Australia captain Steve Smith on day one after an hour-long hearing with match referee Jeff Crowe at St George’s Park on Sunday night.

Having been charged with a Level 2 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct, the 22-year-old was fined 50 per cent of his match fee and handed three demerit points to take his total to eight, which equates to a two-Test ban.

However, Cricket South Africa and Rabada have 48 hours to appeal the decision by the ICC, an option they are seeking legal counsel on whether to explore.

Zimbabwe and surprise packets Scotland play out a tie in the WCQs.

Super 6 stage now with the Windies, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Scotland, UAE and Afghanistan through.

Crucial games will be Ireland v Zimbabwe and Ireland v Scotland. The Windies look a little bit better than the rest but will they get complacent?

How are we supposed to beat that for mayhem?

Aggressive bodily contact, shoving, agitated yelling, pointed fingers and a shattered dressing room door, all marred the finish and the immediate aftermath of the Nidahas Trophy match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

The shattered door was likely the doing of somebody inside the Bangladesh dressing room. An outward-facing camera caught a number of Bangladesh players racing down the steps in front of their dressing room as bits of glass were strewn on the stairs, the door probably having been shattered in those moments. Match Referee Chris Broad has seen the footage and spoken to some of the catering staff who have named the player they believe to be responsible, but Broad had suggested that those statements could not necessarily be taken as fact for the purposes of his work, and has asked for footage from the outside looking in. Bangladesh's team management is understood to have offered to pay for the damage...

Windies looking wobbly. Be remarkable if Scotland snuck through.

Some of these games have been crackers. Such a joke the ICC has eliminated them from the World Cup to placate the BCCI.

Rabada deserved to play his suspension was soft as.

Separate issue - Graham Smith can go suck one over this ball tampering issue.

He is blaming smith and Lehman but hasn't mentioned Faf who was guilty as f*uck. Appealed and got off so abit rich for smith to read the riot act.

Julian Lennon (Brendon Julian) handled very well. He is a better commentor than he was a cricketer. Though he played for his country so he was pretty good

Cricinfo will be a no go zone until the ipl bullshit ends.

Yep.

It's barely tolerable now. All the comments on there are just jibbering subcontinental bullshit. There was an article on there recently about how statistically Boult, Wagner and Southee are one of the most effective test pace trios of the last thirty years. It was a pure statistical breakdown. Holy shit, it went nuts - full of Pakistanis carrying on that the article was wrong and that it should have been about Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib.

The site is a joke and I get my scores and updates from the BBC and cricket.com.au now.

Saw this coming, hopefully not too serious and glad he's not playing in that circus.

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricke...with-another-back-injury-20180410-p4z8qe.html

Pace ace Pat Cummins has become the latest casualty of Australia's disastrous tour of South Africa after pulling out of the Indian Premier League with a back injury.

Cricket Australia is erring on the side of caution with the star fast bowler, who has developed hot spots in his back after bearing a heavy workload during the series against England and South Africa.

The injury is not understood to be serious but there will not be any risks taken with Cummins, who has a long history of back-related problems.

With batting lynchpins Steve Smith and David Warner out for 12 months after the ball-tampering crisis, Australia can ill afford to lose any of their first choice quicks if they are to be competitive while their former leaders are out.

It is unclear if Cummins will be available for Australia's next assignment - a one-day international series in England which, until Smith's and Warner's suspensions, was being seen as a dress rehearsal for next year's World Cup.Australia are not due to play Test cricket until September/October when they travel to the UAE to take on Pakistan.

"Pat experienced some back soreness during the fourth Test in South Africa. Follow-up scans have confirmed that he has bone oedema in his vertebrae," CA team physiotherapist David Beakley said.

"It is important that Pat has time off bowling, to prevent the injury becoming more serious and consequently we have made the decision to rule Pat out of the IPL.

"Pat will now undergo a period of recovery and rehabilitation and we will look to re-scan him in a few weeks to assess the healing. Following this we will be in a better position to decide on Pat's return to play timeline including participation in the limited overs tour of the UK."

Cummins was bought by the Mumbai Indians franchise for $1.05 million. He joins fellow quick Mitchell Starc, who was auctioned for $1.8 million, to miss out on lucrative IPL paydays due to injury.

All-rounder Mitchell Marsh was last week ruled out of the start of the English county season for Surrey due to ankle surgery.

Cummins has come of age since returning to the baggy green in India in March 2017, more than five years after his Test debut.

He was the leading wicket-taker during the Ashes, winning plaudits for his ability to take crucial wickets against the flow of play, and one of few Australian players to enhance their reputations in South Africa.

Cummins, 24, is among the leading contenders to be Australia's next vice-captain.

India baulk at playing pink-ball Test in Adelaide this summer
A PRE-CHRISTMAS pink-ball Test in Adelaide looks unlikely this summer with Indian players and officials baulking at the idea of a day-night clash that has become a mainstay fixture.

A PRE-CHRISTMAS pink-ball Test in Adelaide looks unlikely this summer with Indian players and officials baulking at the idea of a day-night clash.

The match has become a mainstay of the home season in the past three years with successful clashes against New Zealand, South Africa and then England at the Adelaide Oval.

The full schedule for the 2018/19 season has not been locked in by Cricket Australia and discussions with Indian counterparts, the BCCI, haven’t reached a conclusion about the pink-ball game.

But reports emerged out of India that the BCCI had “no interest” in a day-night Test against Australia as part of the four-match series.

The Times of India reported that “sources” said the BCCI had “put its foot down” about the prospect of a pink ball game. India is yet to play a day-night Test at home or away.

DAY-NIGHT: Sutherland on mission to save pink ball Test

“The BBCI doesn’t see any point in pursuing with the idea of a day-night Test at all,” the sources told the paper.

A CA spokesman said the discussions about all aspects of next summer’s schedule were continuing, but nothing had been locked in.

“We are currently finalising the detail of these tours with respective member boards,” the spokesman said.

“Scheduling of any sport has it’s complexities, with a number of parties that need to be consulted throughout the process.

“As soon as we have the 2018-19 home international schedule finalised, we will look to make an announcement on this.”

The Test series against India is already likely to start later than the five-Test Ashes series last summer, with three Tests against Sri Lanka also to be played in January.

There has been speculation all three of those matches could be pink-ball Tests, although that seems unlikely as it would mean a massive interruption to the expanded Big Bash schedule.

Of course they don't, the dickheads.

Despite the fact over the last few years it's been brilliant being able to watch test cricket of an evening when you get home from work - that's the point of it.

I f**king hate the BCCI and the Indian team in general so much. My interest in test cricket actively falls on years when they tour, because we just know they'll chuck a series of tantrums and the pitches will be made of f**king concrete because Star Sports wants to be able to show Kohli bat-a-thons.
