A social media storm over Dally M votes from a Round 7 NRL match has seen Jillaroos player Ruan Sims resign from her role as Dally M judge.

Sims was assigned to judge the Eels-Sea Eagles clash at ANZ Stadium last Sunday April 22, however a change to the NSWRL Women's Premiership schedule meant she was playing for the Cronulla-Caringbah Sharks at the same time as the match she was supposed to be judging.

Subsequently, Sims watched a replay and gave points based on that viewing, rather than being directly at the ground watching live. Points were given to Mitchell Moses, Tim Mannah (both Eels) and Api Koroisau (Sea Eagles).

Today, Sims released a statement confirming events and ultimately stepping down as judge:

Later, the NRL's dedicated media account confirmed with a short statement they would have the game reviewed.

Not being at the ground means you miss a lot of what’s going on. Kick chase line speed extra efforts are easier to see live. Plus Api one point?

She should have been sacked/resigned for the simple fact she gave Api one point.
Anyone giving Api one point for that performance cannot judge performances in the slightest

Not sure the situation's entirely her fault given she was playing at the time of the game. It seems odd that she would've been allocated to judge that match in those circumstances.

Regardless, it doesn't excuse some of the appalling comments towards and about her on Twitter over this.

Yes, but people need something to be outraged over & this obviously qualifies high on the national importance scale for the Tw@tterati.

And yet Kevin Walters his allowed to be a judge whilst commentating?

If you want a good laugh have a look at some of the people he has awarded points to this year.

This award is basically one big troll.
