I said as much at the time about Peachey. If there was no cap reason to release him I’m dumbfounded why we would.

The club is trying to win a premiership, you don’t do that by releasing your most experienced players.

The only thing that makes sense is we needed the cap space.

So if we need the cap space for 2019, ok, release Merrin. Otherwise I’m pretty confident he’d love to have the chance of winning a premiership with us.

He’s one of 3 players in our squad to have played in the GF.

Now coaches are settled players will move. Bennett needs space for TPJ, Des space for Foran. Plus no doubt more will shuffle around.

ESL teams usually pay full freight which may not happen 12 months down the track. Player managers would of starting speaking to other teams so Gus would have an idea what is around.

If we can get close to what we have that suits Ivan's style then go for it

Unless we play a bench hooker and May then we need another forward. Merrin atleast coming on at lock allows Kikau and JFH to not have to play a full game and should mean less errors

If we’re not bringing anyone new in, and we’re under the cap for 2019, what’s the point of getting rid of Merrin now?

The money saved needs to be for something, otherwise you keep him.

Don’t have time to look at all the stats now, but I’m pretty sure he averages more meters per minute than any of our other props in 2018.

JFH was an edge player in juniors. Not releasing CHN or Peachey would of solved this.

We have to have a backrower on the bench so what is your solution?
