Everyone knows I don't rate Ivan but the coach should get a squad they can work with.

Storm and Souths have great coaches and have made more roster moves then we have this year. There was always going to be some changes but hopefully not the level of departures Gus had under his watch

Neither of those clubs have forced out their two best backs.

Anyway, I was just highlighting Ivan’s coaching limitations. It’s a huge concern that he can’t adapt to the talent.

Could be similar for the next guys coming through. He may not be able to get the best out of them, has to shift them on. It’s a farce.

Yes Nathan does mate f**king hell Cleary is becoming underrated around here.

I'm sure he knows how to throw a cut-out pass...

I've got no stats right now. But I'd bet we are close to the bottom of the comp when he it comes to getting the ball to our centres. It just doesn't happen and its been a problem for years.

Its why when you watch Blake highlights he is searching for the ball mid-field or scoring some arsey try of a kick deflection. You won't find many cut-out balls to Blake putting him in the corner. Through the hands via Kikau less likely because he just bulldozes his opposite number and doesn't pass most of the time.

As you have said before you have doubts about Blake's ability to pass. Its something I honestly haven't noticed because he doesn't get much of a chance to set up his winger anyway. It is an extra reason why Whare is particularly ineffective in attack these days. No opportunities or space with the ball.

He should have been an elite player by now. Has he ever been shortlisted for State of Origin??? He's had multiple coaches, opportunities, and even upgraded money.

If he's not getting any better, has issues off the field and we can offload him, then its time to move on.

In the last 3-4 years we have not really let anyone go that has kicked on. Peachy probably is the exception to this (one that we should have kept) but it looks like we will rectify that.

Funny thing is the club seemed to think we were ready to take the next step. Instead of doing that Ivan is tearing down the roster to buy himself time under the justification of "rebuilding".

And this is the pain-in-the-arse issue I have with this whole thing. Rebuilding.

Rebuilding what exactly?!? We already had the foundations in place, ready for the next level.

Now we’ll end up being a Mascot Tower......

I very rarely see blake go looking for the ball. Like it pretty much never happens, he stays in his lane.

Waqa was a gr8 runner of the ball but average in setting up wingers or ball handling, sad to see him go but certainly not worth the money Gould had him on..hopefully the next batch don't get over hyped and paid ridiculous coin b4 they deserve it...

I don't have any from this year (I will try get them)

However, in June 2017 I posted the following stats on this forum;

Cleary's passes to centres:

Blake - 6
Peachey -10
Whare - 8

At the same time of the year. DCE to Walker 67 times. Townsend to Bird 62 times.

Moylan, Sivo, Robert Jennings & Api

Are four players I’d say that kicked on after they left.

Sincere question, do you know the money Gould had him on? I tried searching and couldn’t find anything on it.

Yeah thats right, I remember you posting it. Thanks for that.

Would love to see how it looks for 2018/19.

That's less than I thought.

I wouldn't say rarely but I agree he needs to go searching more. All the great players do that. A centre who scores 15-16 tries a year isn't just a result of quality ball from the halves. You see plenty of arsey tries in there too.

In the last 3-4 years we have not really let anyone go that has kicked on. Peachy probably is the exception to this (one that we should have kept) but it looks like we will rectify that.

Interesting isn't it? What is the problem then?

We lack the correct approach to develop our talent. Or our talent base is extremely overrated and no good.

Rob Jennings was supposed to be some super talent, hes an average first grader at best. The rest have done pretty well I agree.

Eh, I wouldn't exactly say Moylan "kicked on" either. He was very good when he was here and he's been good at the Sharks, albeit after a quiet start. Still think his best footy was in 2016.

He’s average, but he has “kicked on” I’d say. He didn’t do much here at all, but he went fairly well at the bunnies.

Hes gone from making his age origin and junior roos teams to average at NRL level since leaving us. He was ok at souths but he has fallen well short of living up to his potential.

I have no problem with a coach wanting to build his own roster, although Ivan has a pretty shocking record of building teams, just look at the Tigers.

I think we as fans have just as much of a right to question the decisions he makes in regards to the roster.

Where are the Tigers now? I wouldn't say he failed there it is a work in progress.

Of course fans can but most were sad to see Peachey leave so just correcting that wrong imo. I am waiting to see how the roster looks before I will judge. For me Peachey cancels out Blake leaving both on their day are great both have errors but Peachey can create from nothing. How they spend the balance of the cap is key for me
