NRL Rd 19 2019 - General Non-Warriors Thread

Every game is crucial now, particularly for the lower part of the eight.

Beginning tonight, with Sharks v Cowboys. I've forgotten where the Cows are this season but I know Cronulla have recently dropped out of the eight, after four losses (or so). They're another club who will be bemoaning the lack of their 'best team' getting on the park. That won't be happening tonight as Fifita is suspended. Dugan is back though, but do they really want him?

Knights v Tigers, another one that seems so important for both sides. Newcastle have slid down the ladder since Origin, but they also started the season badly too.

They're fired up in Parramatta, shiny new stadium, back in the eight. They can finish the Warriors' hopes off on Saturday if they really mean it.

C'mon Titans, do the Warriors a favour, and get your sad asses off the bottom of the ladder.

Clinical Storm at home to the Sea Eagles. Our man, Beave, will be ready to rock on Saturday night too. He loves this fixture.

Bulldogs need a few more upsets to avoid the spoon, and surely the Raiders will end Penrith's seven-game winning-streak?

Some big games, for me notably the Manly - Melbourne clash - Melbourne due for a loss, but the refs keep helping them out - and I love the look of the Manly side, just not sure they're quite good enough to get it done... but Dessie will be scheming

Panthers and Raiders is a big one too, both in that tier below the top 3, Penrith obviously had the horrific start but have found their straps. Kikau is a big loss, and IMO a ridiculous suspension.

Can the Kinghts rebound in Wobbie's 300th? Can Cronulla show any character and form? And will our dour, dull approach pay dividends on the Eels home patch, where they've sometimes been electric?

FMD, I have no idea

I’m optimistic but not confident going into this weekend, Melbourne are due for a loss but our old man from the 80s getting stuck into Smith pre game probably wouldn’t have helped

Saw Ennis on 360 the other night and he was saying that when Melbourne week comes around Des goes into overdrive haha, loved his work at the press conference last week when asked if Manly are starting to get noticed “there are only 3 teams in this comp, Melbourne, Roosters and Souths” then asked if Manly beating Melbourne would lift them above the radar “we will he heading there and doing our best” with a smirk on his face

Few teams can be confident against those bastards but Hasler and Flanagan seemed to have good recipes and the requisite talent... Des is close on the latter imo

the interesting thing about that spray he gave Smith was how right he was about some of it- particularly about how good Cam is at working refs. Apparently he makes sure he stays on good terms with them too, he'll have a beer and socialise with them when the other young dumb and full of cum footballers are probably off chasing footy groupies.

Some SJ magic, steps off his left on the last near halfway and cuts through. Pass to Josh Morris, who dummies instead of passing to his winger and gets held up! Shades of that old Warriors mug there.

Dugan does a farcical air-swing at the ball in-goal but Hess knocks on, to the relief of Dugan. Go back to Canberra! one disgruntled fan could be heard yelling at him. They don't like him there, do they?

Gal v JT, monster mash! A pretty entertaining first-half, but a long way from the top of the table standard. The Warriors could hang with these clowns.

There's some has-beens out there too, like Woods. Shades of their former selves.

I'm off to bed. Six AM start.

Gal was huge - say what you like about him, but that performance was what leadership and greatness are about - barely played in recent weeks, nearly 38, team in a trough - he gives them a talking to and then outplays or matches Taumalolo - and they get an ugly win

Tigers just did us a favour. If we can win tomorrow we jump them, the Sharks and the Knights and into 8th. Our top 8 destiny is solely in our own hands again.

That Ponga decision was nearly as bad as the Kikau.suspension - only not as bad because he won’t be suspended

The only conclusion I can come to is that it was considered a professional foul in the act of attempting to score a try. Clearly the player accidentally hit in the head and he didnt look good after. No penalty try so had to be a sin bin. Bit rough. But suspect the whole concussion and brain injury thing had NRL on hyper alert, (unless you play for Warriors.)

I think Ponga braced for collision at the last split second and in doing sodelivered a solid elbow/shoulder to the head. Accident, but careless. 10 in the bin fair enough, no further sanction. Thank you.

Perenara and the numbnuts in the bunker need concussion tests, but I doubt that find anything inside their swedes

It was a contest for a bouncing ball in the in goal, nothing more and nothing less

Don't say that! We're usually a big disappointment in these scenarios.

Off topic but I’ve tuned in for the big kick
N clap game in Wellington

Jesus it gets harder to watch every time
I try, bored and reaching for the phone every min or 2, think I’ve seen enough

SBW being picked is a joke too

Melbourne sitting top of the table 6 points clear. Prime time game, everything handed to them and cant sell out a crowd vs Manly.

I'm sure if Warriors in same position it would be capacity crowds.

What a luxury for Melbourne though having Brandon Smith on the bench, and Papenhuyzen for that matter.

What a match, finals intensity and we had to work our absolute arse off to defend that, Melbourne were on our line pretty much all game

Unbelievably the refs actually called a pass in golden point that was 5m forward as well

DCE comes up clutch yet again but will still cop the hate

Not bad for a bunch of wooden spoon contenders with a washed up coach
