No they didn’t, archer has two nations and chose to play for the nation which plays test cricket.

If Australia can bat long enough today to chew up more time and at least ensure a draw, Australia should just substitute Steve Smith for Labuschagne (he would qualify under the 'like-for-like' concussion sub rule, as he also bowls leg spin).

There's absolutely no point in risking Steve Smith for the remainder of this test match, and if he hasn't broken bone in his hand, give him a few days to recover for the next test match.

Unless there's more rain, an England win is still very much on the cards here. Archer will be incredibly hard to keep out with this new ball and our pathethic batsman (one usual notable exception) have all been sent back to the dressing room
