In respect of Wayne Egan a realistic value would be $200-250K but was probably being paid overs at say $300K. Crawley is plucking the 500K figure out of his you know what and the DT journo’s are very good at talking shit and making stuff up.

Seriously if you believed what has been written by the DT journo’s we would be spending approximately 13.5 million this year on our top 30. (Obviously to arrive at this figure I have estimated a few of the lesser lights contracts which have not been talked about or mentioned.)

They just make stuff up, and I sort of understand that because they have to fill newspapers and electronic media but I would estimate at least 80 % of what they write in respect of who earns what or in respect of player movements is just speculation and made up crap. Koroisau is the perfect case in point as it would appear he was always coming to Penrith and had never received an offer from the Bulldogs.

I noticed the story in the paper today contained not one qoute from anyone. Just speculation.
Maybe Egan's manager thought now we have signed Koroisau Egan was surplus to requirements. Lets start a rumour and see where it goes.
Another chance for a new deal elsewhere if it comes off and more importantly another round of commission for the manager.

I agree... but it makes sense that Egan would want to leave. He’s looking at 12 months in reserve grade next year. Baring injury of cause.

I was joking but Egan isn't our 3rd best option. When fit he is easily better than Kenny who he was equal with while managing a shoulder similar to Yeo. In time he'll be better than Api as well IF the club actually takes the time to develop them properly.

Typically journos need around three sources to confirm a story. When it comes to these player transfer type stories, it's usually a few whispers from people connected to the club or player in some way. Unless the club is open about it, they are always going to deny things like this. Panthers is a business and want to be able to control the narrative - regardless of whether it is true or false. Look at Seibold constantly denying player movement which was always true. He did so as it was in the club's best interest at the time to keep it under wraps. No idea whether Egan leaving is true or not in saying all of this.
