Agreed re Burton. Has the size to play just about anywhere. For me Luai is the first choice 6 and Burton fills. Centre is a glaring weakness and maybe that is where he should train pending off-season signings. At least to start off the year.

Not sure if will Ivan will be patient with Luai. Get the feeling he might be moved on quickly.

For me the choice on Luai was made too far out and I don't think enough was done to prepare him. So not sure where he fits best

A big issue I have with Penrith is the need to fit players in because they're juniors with potential.

We will forever be behind the top teams if we think we can just keep producing juniors in the hope we have a winning combination without sourcing top quality talent from outside our ranks.

The list of quality juniors is a long one. The list of juniors we've kept that are elite quality....very few.

FWIW, I'd prefer we bought all the players needed to win a premiership than to continually will players to come good and continue the development cycle.

There's several factors which work against us as a club but ultimately, relying on our juniors is flawed. Look at our cap, we develop players, pay them a tonne and end up losing them anyway.

Between poor management and playing under Ivan Cleary, I wouldn't expect many to progress to the superstar or elite level. Nor would I expect any massive signings.

Remember when commentators used to say 'They're old enough when they're good enough'?

Now it seems we protect players in their formative years and slowly drip feed them into FG.

Maybe the premier league days prepared juniors better than nowadays. It feels like so much has changed since the mid 2000's.

Yeah...lets not go anywhere near hacks like Matterson or Cody Walker.

Instead.. lets get Murdoch Masila back, and I think we have definitely seen more than enough to give Burton first shot at 5/8...and the captaincy, and a gigantic upgrade.

Walker is a running half which we have no need for. Also chokes in big games.
Matterson is being chased by a heap of clubs pushing his price way up, he also plays the position we are most stacked in.

Now as for BMM he's a Souf Aussie Panther type........a plodder whos not up to standard

Has he played centre before?

Not to sure how much he’s played there but there was an article recently about how mal thinks he can cash in on his utility, Mal said he can play centre(among other positions). I’ll see if I can find it later.

Edit: https://www.nrl.com/news/2019/10/24/utility-value-brimson-set-for-upgrade-as-mal-shuns-bench-stigma/

I’d take him at fullback obviously but I don’t think they will move Dylan this year, they will give him a chance at least.

His defence is a concern, I’m only going off the numbers though, haven’t seen a heap of him playing.

Looks like the Sharks have found a way out of their salary cap issues without needing to release and subsidise players like Morris and Moylan.

Just use the supposed video footage to sack Dugan and save $750,000 a season. Do players like him never learn?

In that same article, there is mention of a prop called Nathaniel Peteru. I don’t know too much about him but he could be that “bargain buy” in terms of a prop that we need, especially if no other prop is heading our way.

He can tackle as far the technical ability and desire goes he has it in him, at times his last line of defence as a fb has been a highlight but I didn’t watch him enough last season to defend his numbers, maybe he doesn’t read well or gets lazy I wouldn’t know tbh. He is probably a fb long term but if we could get him working in the centres he brings a combination of skill, passing and running we haven’t had in the centres for a long time.

Ha ha ha - Manly Hooker Manase Fainu has been charged with that stabbing at the church dance.

Bet they wish now they had kept Korisau.........

Wow.

Terrible news for Fainu and the Sea Eagles. Is our contract binding? They might take a stab at getting Korisau back.

I guess Danny Levi will be at Manly otherwise. Or Issac Luke.

I wouldn’t worry, they can’t afford him.

Still haven’t re-signed the Turbo bro’s, they have DCE on an insane deal. And two of the best front rowers in the game. Oh and they want to retain Dylan Walker.

They’ll throw whoever into dummy half
