As long as they're old farts, is all that matters.

Here's the thing though, mortality rates are higher among the aged, but that doesn't mean it isn't serious for the young. There's a good chunk that'll die without treatment, and for many of those that'll mean being on a ventilator, try fitting 150000 people who need a ventilator for between 2 and 6 weeks into a time frame that allows for the fact we only have a few thousand of them.

Who decides who turns off your breathing in favour of some other merkin?

That isn’t what I was saying. Herd immunity is a combination thing. The more people who are individually immune, whether vaccine or recovery, makes the overall herd less susceptible whether an individual is immune or not. The trick is to match it to resources as best as possible to not end up with bubonic plague type shit

There is no vaccine though?

So at the moment what we have is recovery.

Vaccines take time to test before they come to market, normally like 6 - 18 months, they'll rush this along when they think they have one, but still thay have to make sure the damn thing works before they pour the resources into distributing it.

And when they do have a vaccine all of those panic buying merkins will be lining up asking to get the injection 20 or 30 times on the spot just so they can hoard it!!

The alternative is hiding and hoping it passes while the economy tanks and there’s a strain on other society resources. It’s a balance

No, there is more than one alternative.

The economy's gonna suffer regardless, the concentration should be upon whatever is required to stop people dying.

The dead don't give two f**ks about the economy.

I don't think bubonic plague was spread from person to person. Wasn't it spread by fleas?
