The raiders this year have played up and down to the level of competition so im expecting this to be a pretty good quality game
Raiders getting some legs under CHN and JB was important last week, Jack Wighton had a shocker...

I think if George Williams and Jack Wighton step up, the Raiders will win.

Raiders took off a winger to cram another 2nd rower onto the field late in the Cowboys game- we're taking the Elliot Trophy serious, we're coming & we're going to do it Elliot style.

The only reason they took the winger from the field was that he got injured and will be out for 3-4 weeks apparently.

I notice Sticky has now got Don Furner doing his whinging about how all the travelling disadvantages his team, when compared to this week's opponent, of course, who have apparently played only one match outside their backyard.

Hmm games by Penrith without Sydney next to the venue... one. From 12 rounds.

Games by Canberra 3 or more hours away... eight. From 12 rounds.

Don might have a point.

Yeah but it's all for safety... meanwhile, cases in Canberra far lower by every measure than in every other state league is being played in & WAS allowed to be played in while Raiders were not among the half dozen grounds cleared for playing at despite having world class health & security...

That would have been the case regardless of Covid. That's just how the draw went. It's not like we got to play many at home though. If you want to cry about home ground advantage take it to the Parra forum.

In a normal world you would have played 6 away. So only 2 games you have been put out.

Mate... Parra is 20 minutes up the M4 :D
You cant honestly be arguing that the panthers draw and their lack of travel isnt a significant advantage over clubs who have been constantly travel.
Surely you couldnt be saying that.
No one could be that f**king dense.

Whilst this forum is maintaining its geographically illiterate image with galaxy brain takes like Penrith to Parra is only 20 minutes i also add Canberra is a part of Sydney as well and is only 40 minutes from Campbelltown. This cannot be disputed.

Canberra at GIO - 4 so far, 8 in 2020 leaves 12 away.
Penrith at Penrith - 2 so far, 6 in 2020 Leaves 14 away.
Parramatta at BankWest - 7 so far, 11 in 2020 leaves 9 away (maybe less depending on where the NZ and WT games are played)

I don’t see any home ground advantage for Penrith over Canberra. Seems the other way around.
Parramatta have been the favoured team in this area!

Of course I'm not that dense. But thats how it rolls if you are a club from Sydney. Given better than half the teams are based here thats where we will play more games. My point about Parra was they have had games at their home stadium. Our home games were at Campbeltown or 1/4 of the way from Penrith to Canberra.

Surely you guys arent that dense to cry about a regional team having to travel more than city based teams? If it's so terrible you could always join a comp with all those other places near Canberra. Monaro & Collector would have NRL ready teams surely?

We've played two games at Parramatta. One was Parramatta's home game, the other Wests home game. Other games have been at Penrith (2) Kogarah (3, one of them our home game), Campbelltown (3, all our home games) Robina, Qld (1) and Brookvale (1).

The bone of contention here seems to be that Campbelltown is closer to Penrith than Canberra.

Penrith is no different in the health & security area, and would have been considered as a bubble like the Central Coast is for NZ.

FFS Canberra blew their chance last year.

Without Hodgson for the rest of this year they just aren’t in the Premiership discussion anymore so who cares if they have to travel to Mount Everest this season.

In a normal world, you'd have played some more away from Syd too. So just accept your privilege.

This is all predicated on the logic that Penrith, Kogarah, Parramatta, Manly and Campbelltown is a monolith. Since we’re lazily labelled as ‘Sydney’, people who have never read a book thinks Penrith is just as ‘Sydney’ as other clubs hence when we travel to another stadium it’s like we never travelled at all. It’s the same logic that morons use when defending the nsw gov for putting together its horrific stadium plan.
