So pickings look slim for next year...

Apart from a Hail Mary play for Smith, does anyone see any improvement?

Are we condemned to where we are until a star half (among others) comes off contract? It’s looking like Newcastle where we have money in the bank but we need to bide our time for the right signing.

A name that deserves to be mentioned is Marshall. Remember years back when we had him to help mentor Hunt, Milford and Nikorima? Well here we are again... should we just keep the money and hope for someone who isn’t 46 to become available? That’s if he’d even consider a move at this age.

It's really difficult to say until they sign a new coach. If they sign Paul Green, we may see a few Cowboys cast-offs join the roster. If it's Kevie, we may see a play for Ben Hunt or somebody from the Maroons. I don't expect them to make any quality signings and what's troubling is that they don't have a lot of players coming through the pipeline. Players like Dearden, Coates, Paix, Bullemor, Riki were blooded well ahead of time and the Broncos have lost a lot of the players underneath them. The likes of Simpkin (Tigers), Martin (Sharks), Walker (Roosters) etc. are all gone. Throw in the Fifita deal and not only was this year a horrible season for them, it's really going to hurt them over the coming years.

Best bet, they sign a few players up for 2022 and can convince them to transfer over right away. Somebody like Su'A coming back early would be a nice start.

However the way I see it, I think you'll largely see the same roster with maybe one solid signing to give them some hope ala Croft from last year.

'22 is the year where the Broncos will make moves.

I'm hoping they don't go anywhere near Hunt as a half. Maybe a 14 as a dummy half back up to Turpin but paying anything more than $400 K a year would be a disaster. With Boyd and Fifita both gone it does free up a bit of cap space but as Big Pete said until 2021 when both Milford and Bird have come to the end of their overvalued contracts I can't see any major purchases till the 2022 season.

I have heard rumours that a Bird-Norman swap is being looked at, with Brisbane absorbing a small portion of Birds final year (player option) to move him on. Not sure about the accuracy or if there is any truth to the rumour. I have to admit I scoffed at it initially.

Don't scoff at it, nothing that this club does will surprise you anymore.

Was hoping Smith would sign on as captain coach. He’s still a chance of coming up isn’t he?

Reports are Kevvie wants to extend Bird's contract.

Risky move, I thought he would have wanted him to move Bird on ASAP. The same as everyone at the Dragons want Norman to do. When you look at both of their salaries, all you can do is shake your head & laugh.
Apparently wants someone with grand final experience.

There is a difference. Bird can actually play but has had shithouse luck whereas Norman is just shithouse

If we re-sign Bird, his contract will have to be greatly reduced due to lack of interest and to make up for the last 3 seasons.

Also, we desperately need a fullback.

Surely they wouldn't resign Bird until they see whether he can even string a few games together next year and even then I'm sure they would be running with the line that you owe us for the last 3 years.
