The Gold Coast and Cronulla.

Two failures that rugby league administrations keep pouring money into like a bottomless pit and one of which bit the hand that fed them and prostituted itself to the highest bidder

If they were to disappear no one would care.

The Chargers were one of only a couple of clubs that made a profit the year they were booted. The main criteria that went against them was that they were too close to the Broncos. If anything they should have been reintroduced before Souths.
The Titans had some rough years after their reintroduction, but they have their own ‘Rustys’ now and the admin side of things looks to be improving.

The club that sold itself to superleague after being perennially bailed out by the ARL/NSWRL pisses its millions of dollars of silver against the wall to be bailed out again.

Meanwhile we've lost Newtown, Wests, Balmain and North Sydney and tried to get rid of souths.

No wonder fans get pissed.
They should have never entered the ARL in the first place.

No matter how many times Cronulla is bailed out, they always end up on death's door.

Is it any wonder they always end up broke?

The St George and Sutherland region has a combined population of 500k. Cronulla doesn't have the history or brand recognition of the Dragons. They'll always be the smaller of the 2 clubs. If they were to relocate to Adelaide or Perth then they could become a real asset to the game.
Thanks for the geography lesson..lol

Prostituted itself really, more like survival, again South’s remained loyal to the establishment tell me what was their prize for doing so only to be kicked out..so much for loyalty..

Cronulla did the right thing signing with Super League.

My concern is where will the club be in 10 years time?

Nope, the thanks the nswrl/ARL got for keeping this waste afloat was the middle finger as it spread its legs open to Murdoch.

The criteria was the work of News Limited who always hated the traditional clubs and weighted it accordingly so bye bye Norths, Wests, Balmain, Souths, Manly.

Everyone knew it was f**ked.

Cronulla fans will NEVER become Dragons fans and the area would be lost. St. George fans would never follow the Sharks either, BUT some Illawarra fans may become Sharks fans. Losing the ‘St George’ area would not be as big of a loss to the comp than the whole Cronulla-Sutherland region. Move the Dragons to Adelaide and then have the Cronulla-Illawarra Sharks or Cronulla-Southern Sharks. It’d never happen though. Unless a Sydney club completely falls to shambles, Sydney will stay the way it is for a long time

Any relocation would be a 20 year project that bears short term pain for long term gain.

If one of the Southern Sydney clubs were to relocate then its rusted-on fans probably will abandon the game. However, if the ARLC and the remaining club are active in marketing their brand to the youths in the relocated team's district then they would probably see a huge uplift of fans within 20 years. AwFuL have made serious inroads in Brisbane and Sydney by ignoring us rusted-on RL fans and targeting our children. Kids don't have a rusted-on bias and are easy to manipulate.

Do any junior clubs exist anymore in the traditional St George district?

Seems to be getting absorbed by Souths and Canterbury or Wests

The risk is, they fall straight into the arms of the AFL. I personally know a lot of ex North’s and Newtown fans who have Swans memberships as an example.
