Along with most, I think Waqa must go or spend quite some time in reggies, maybe even mix that with extra time at our COE. But, here we are playing a Wayne Bennett coached Bunnies team that's had 50+ put on them twice in the last three weeks after we got humbled by the Sea Slugs a few of days ago. Who's confident? I should be but we've haven't had a great run against the Bunnies in recent times no matter where each team has been on the ladder. I can smell an ambush.

I think it's fair to say this will be a massive test for our defensive structures/resolve. No Drown and no RCG, two of our better defenders. Failure to compete on the edges this week will turn up the heat ten fold.
I really want the boys to win and will be cheering with all I have but the forum is heaps more fun after a loss.

If we can snag the first try within the first 5-10mins I think it’ll play mentally with the rabbits heads after last week. We need to lead this one from the start.

If they get an early lead; I think they’ll be too tough to chase down especially with the emotion of the game with indigenous round. Latrell and Walker will be up for a classic

We have the following young centres/wingers, all reputedly with some speed.
Hayze Perham
Haze Dunster
Solomone Naiduki
Will Penisini

2 of them have been selected in the 21 this week.

Besides Dunster I don't think any of them are close to NRL level defense wise right? But anyway, I am not holding my breath for any of these juniors to be anything special in the top grade. We have a deplorable record over the last 10+ years. They(recruitment team and coaches) need to prove themselves on our junior stocks for me to have any faith in them getting it right.

Sorry, yes we have done a stellar job in assembling a high quality NRL roster over the last 3 seasons, but our junior identification is still to prove its worth. They need some big scalps to appear over the next season or two, for me to start believing that they are up to getting that part of our structure right. That is why we are struggling with outside backs at present and had to bring in a lot of journey men and last chance saloon types of players to bolster up our stocks.

It has worked so far for us, but if that is the only way we can replenish our roster, then eventually it will fail. We need to be more like the Panthers and have pressure always coming in from below and only go to market to fill a position here or there when needed.

The jury is out on what our junior will eventually deliver NRL level wise.

As I have said before our defensive structures work for some sides but not others. We also keep it the same during games. Along with attack.
What happens are sides are able to watch tape and put a game plan together. I wouldn't be surprised if from rnd 11-rnd25 we end up with a 50% record.

It's why we need to be mixing things up. Not just game to game but during games.

When do we ever spread the ball inside our own half?
When was last time Gutherson returning ball tried to find Sivo and put him on outside (This happened often in 19)
Never see trick shots where we play a high risk attack play on first or 2nd.

Then in defense we do this -

Play tough an aggressive for first 20 mins then turn off. We also use the same sliding defense. What Manly did was changed during game. They'd compress and rush up. They also play sliding and retreat. It made it hard for our halves to stick to any sort of game plan. Complete bullshit we where out enthused etc. They just gave us a few questions we hadn't seen the answer to and had no idea how to combat it. We gave them questions they have seen 20x before. Even with 12 men they still looked a far more dangerous side.
I am not part of coaching staff so no idea if BA is holding back or what. But only a dope would think other sides won't be fired up come finals. Its about tactics at this time of year.

We have a good footy side. And capable of beating anyone but its bloody predictable and I can see what's coming next nearly every play. We also lack support runners. We have stopped playing rugby league and taking risks. We need to be carefull of playing to safe cause our current style won't bother good defenses.

It's a team game.

The fact is we didn't score many points. At 6 all we took an intercept or picked up a dropped ball. By memory we should of scored and went up 12-6. Forget how it fell apart. But that was a turning point imo early on.

Our side still lacks composure and get worried by not scoring. Reality is by keeping good field position or forcing line drop out you mentally break down the opposition along with slowly wear them out. All of a sudden they start to force passes. Even 16 points in final 20 mins is easy to run down if the other sides tired and you've worked them out
