Cleary kissed on the dick with Souths burdened by the 50 point hoodoo releasing him from his destiny of being a serviceable coach who never coached a premiership winning side.

Panthers to win. No other result can be entertained.

Prelim finals charges: Grant, Aloiai facing ban; Good news for Panthers

NRL.com

2 minutes

Storm hooker Harry Grant is facing a ban and Panthers duo James Fisher-Harris and Stephen Crichton have been fined but the best news for Penrith is co-captain Nathan Cleary has been cleared.
Cleary was placed on report for a lifting tackle in the 21st minute of Penrith's 10-6 preliminary final win over Melbourne but the match review committee did not charge the star halfback for the incident.
Grant is facing a ban of 1-2 matches next season after being charged with a grade-one crusher tackle on Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards.
Fisher-Harris (dangerous contact) is looking at a fine of $1350-$1800 while Crichton (contrary conduct) could pay $2500-$3300 over an incident in the 60th minute.

Manly prop Josh Aloiai is set to miss the start of the 2022 season, with the Manly forward facing a ban of three or four matches for a dangerous throw on Rabbitohs prop Mark Nicholls.
Aloiai was hit with a grade two charge for the tackle in the 68th minute of Friday night's loss to South Sydney.
With two prior offences in the past two years, Aloiai would miss three matches if he enters an early guilty plea or risk a four-match suspension if he challenges the charge at the judiciary.
No other players were charged from Friday night's match.

So from what I can gather:

People going for PENRITH!!! next weekend:

Roosters fans
Broncos fans
Yep. I'm going for Penrith because of Wayne Bennett's further sly dig in the presser. Him trying to present an image of innocence is laughable. Both our administration AND Wayne were absolute gronks during that contract saga. Good coach, pretty ordinary human.

Where Ivan is a flog, Wayne is a flog.
Where Penrith players are smug, Cody Walker invented 'smuggery'.

I think it's appropriate that whoever defeated your side on the way to the GF, should be followed. At least if that side does win, the defeat one had was not in vain.

The refs have been giving a skinny 5m which should keep the game close.

Rabbits right edge is a concern though.

Riff showed some real defensive steel and ability to handle pressure last night, conversely Souths weren't really tested by Manly.

On the other hand Skeletor is a master at prepping his teams for big games and will keep his guys in the correct headspace this week.

There is probably a touch more pressure and expectation on Penrith, mainly cos of last years GF loss and the fact that Souths have really sailed under the radar this year, no-one really ranked them with the Panthers and Storm yet they just kept winning.

I got a strong feeling this is gonna be one of the epic Grand Finals, i'm tipping Penrith but only just.

Souths were very luck against Manly , as the bounce of the ball went their way most of the game.

However against Panthers , the bounce of the ball did not go Souths way and cost them 3 tries , yet still won. They could have won by 30 points.......yet post game , the praise is on Panthers defence only have 3 tries scored against them in 2 finals games. !!!

And in the last round victory by Panthers over Souths , Panthers had TWO very lucky bouncing ball tries to even the scores by halftime.

Against the Storm , fact is Storm blew two tries in first half and frankly were SHITE in possession , keeping Panthers in the game.

Bottom line.......Panthers are pretenders. Souths by 30.
Getting sick and tired of seeing golden boy superstar Cleary get away with dangerous tackles shoulder charges hope ref is on to it next week,go South's!!

Souths need the win more IMO if there is such a thing.

You would be a fool to believe that Bennett and reynolds both leaving won't result in regression in results next year. Penrith on the other hand probably have a genuine chance the next season or two.
Certainly this is our best chance and we probably won't get another for a couple of years.

However I think those expecting us to fall dramatically are wishful thinking. There are probably 12 other teams that would kill for a spine of Mitchell, Walker, Taaffe, Cook and Murray - playing behind the same forward pack minus only Su'A. Somewhere between 4th and 6th next year would be an expected result.

But in terms of premiership, yeah, this is our year. The stars have aligned and it's only the smug in our way.
