I don’t run the club, I’m a mere supporter who vents his opinion on the internet.

let’s see how many supporters Griffin has next year when he’s run out of excuses, and Ciraldo is in the mix.
Everyone is entitled to have opinions. Unfortunately opinions are like as..oles, everyone has one.

With Dufty & Norman gone I’m not too concerned about Sloan or Amone leaving but Sullivan still has another year behind Hunt which worries me. Pay him whatever he wants & lock him up!
Hunt to 9 and we have a devastatingly great attacking spine.

1. Sloan
6. Amone
7. Sullivan
9. Hunt

This spine should score/create plenty of tries however, the defensive capabilities of Sloan, Amone, and Sullivan still need to improve.

I like Hunt at 9 but outside of origin Hunt won’t spend a minute at dummy half Griffin has been pretty clear on that.

Defence comes down to technique & attitude, I don’t think attitude is an issue so it’s up to dads army to coach good technique.

This. Good post. Will take time to gel at the top grade but what I do like the self-confidence all three have already shown. I'm also OK defensively so far being so young but it's a hell of a long season. I just hope we don't employ the usual Dragons tactic of playing them out of position.

I know that our ball security & game discipline always meant we were on the wrong side of tackles made but was fitness an issue last season or forwards that were just not good enough and therefore not up to the challengers of the NRL grind ?

The latter imo. Plus game management with Hunt out for large stints. We spend way too many minutes of the season pinned in our half.

Looking at season stats: Penrith are surprisingly high on the negatives - errors, ineffective tackles, penalties conceded and handling errors. Souths aren't fantastic either. Both teams, however, are at the top of the table for run meters, post contact meters and kick return meters. Both teams have players who are nailed into their positions. The best coaches don't chop and change; they perfect individual, specialist skills.
To me the stats show that territory - game management - is super important.
Both of the grand finalists have brilliant halves and spines. They both play very territorial, tactical games. Penrith specialise in stopping the opposition from getting near their line and, when it's under threat, their line defence really steps up. Souths specialise in engaging the line and try assists.
It's not as simple as defence or attack, star players or even discipline.
It's mainly about game control and being really well-drilled and cohesive as a team.

Penrith are the best at launching in D on those first few tackles - I'd love to see "average metres gained against" stat as I'm sure the Riff would be top of the list.

Hurry up and sign for the big red V Jayden.

The club and supporters need you.
His manager is trying to get him the best possible deal at the Dragons. The 3 amigos Sloan, Amone, and Sullivan will be together at the Dragons for many years to come.

With Suli likely to sign, all we need now is Brandon Smith at 9 and one more first-grade prop. This would re-shape our forward's attack and defense.

1. Sloan
2. Ramsey
3. Suli
4. Lomax
5. Ravalawa
6. Amone
7. Hunt
8. Molo
9. Smith
10. New Prop
11. Su'A
12. Bird
13. De Belin

14. Sullivan
15. Burgess
16. Lawrie
17. Burns

Ciraldo is with Penrith for 22. How did he and Hook go working together previously? He’s clearly a great defence coach.
