Ashes 2021… at risk?

Disappointing for myself as a WACA member but not the end of the world.

I would have hoped the last Test would go to Canberra or Hobart instead of the soulless MCG.

Might be logistically easier and cheaper to have it in Canberra than Hobart? As its down the road from Sydney and right after the SCG test

Possibly but given Cricket Australia were prepared to shift the entire Ashes roadshow across country if state borders weren't a thing I guess I'm unsure.

Having your cake and eating it too?
I don't know what that means really but it could be this.

Mark McGowan and WA can get f**ked.

Journo James Massola has it spot on.

“Pretty sure that WA gave up its right to demand Ashes Tests when it stopped being part of Australia.

If the opponents were anyone not named England or India I reckon they would give it to Canberra.

Being the Ashes though I think they will want to get as much money out of it as possible and will go back to the MCG.

Pleasantly surprised.

Tempting to host it at a bigger ground. But Tasmania deserve a test.

Definitely bigger crowd elsewhere, particularly Sydney or MCG

But how much bigger? might be debatable

Cricket fans already spent their coin (pre booked) attending those venues, plus then asking them to attend a dead rubber most likely, when there is BBL going on and ODI, T20 internationals coming around the corner, might be too much .

Ive got SCG test tickets, and unless they are dirt cheap or free, buckley's im going again the week after, Unless im chosen to replace either Starc or Harris in the side. Id also consider being Paddys personal kit and drinks carrier for the day

Even a 4-0 series scoreline Hobart would pack the place out - correct decision.

Yeah same i am already going days 2,3 and 4 of the Sydney test. l probably wasn't going to back up again a week later.

Though i wouldn't mind Sydney doing a pink ball test for the NY test just as a trial one summer. I think CA are happy to leave the status quo as it already is a big event that gets big crowds and maybe having a pink ball with everyone dressed as pink in the crowd could be an issue

But i reckon it would be great head into the city for lunch have a few beers at PJs in Fox studios then head to the cricket for a 2:30pm start similar to 50 over cricket.

I haven't been to a test since the 13-14 Ashes and it was blistering hot in the concourse.

I'd probably just pay because of the long gap between tests and to get a good seat for once. Also because it's the Ashes. But wouldn't be a return customer with the prices.

Good points

I forgot its a D/N test, so that may perk my interest for the fact its the first one at the SCG, plus have a good feed in the city before wandering down for the action
